I have the same problem

It makes a clicking sound and trys to retract. It won't even go into PC mode. I have taken it apart and sprayed it with compressed air and nothing seems to work.

In your battery compartiment is a small cover labeled CR1220.

PLEASE READ MANUAL on how to open it.

Behind that cover you will find a coin shaped battery, provably type CR1220.

PLEASE READ MANUAL on how to remove it.

Get a replacement battery (watch store/ camera store/...)

PLEASE READ MANUAL on how to install it.

Power on camera, set date and time and DONE!

1990 240 wagon won't start. Just makes a single click sound. All the battery lights and everything else works.

check your connections at the battery, clean any corrosion and tighten.(baking soda and warm water works.wear gloves and safety glasses)
if still clicks when trying to start,it probably your solenoid on your starter.
check connections there or while someone trys to start it tap side of starter with a pc of wood or small mallet.

My lights, windows, and radio all work fine. But it won't start it makes a click noise but nothing. Then we thought it was the battery so we jumped it and now it won't even make no click noise at...

The "click" sound condition make us guess that could be a bad ignition switch or starter.

It turned out to be the starter. I first took the battery to have it tested and it was fine. Next, I took the starter apart and took it to Autozone to have it tested? and it was bad. It is not easy access to remove the starter. The intake manifold and exhaust system are in the way and need to be taken apart first. See instructions below:

- Take off Intake

- Take off Starter

Hope this helps (remember to rating this answer and leave some comment).

Disc table does not open or close - stuck open

Hello the unit is out of timing now, it will have to be taken apart and retimed. You have skipped some gear tracks and the unit will not close until the Tray is realigned. Try hitting the eject button so the tray comes all the way out then pull on it gently to see if it realigns it self. When it trys to go back in it is hitting the clamper because the tray has not reached home and the clamper that gasps the disk is closing before it has a chance to return home.

The lens is stuck 1/2 way out and I am unable to access the menu and have taken the batteries out and even replaced them.

The lens has probably got something in the retraction mechanism that is stopping it retracting. This can be something as simple as sand or grit or as a result of a drop or knock. In most cases the camera will need to be stripped apart to remove the lens assy before it can be repaired. This is best left to a professional camera repair shop.

Tape will not retract

Sounds like the carrage is out of time with the deck. Either that or the mode switch (the switch that senses the location of all the gears on the deck) is in need of an internal cleaning. When the contact pads on the mode switch get a little corroded it will confuse the microprocessor that controls loading and it will not know where the gears really are. Good luck.
