I need to know how to hook up Sony amplifier ta-ax 295,Sony tuner st-jx 295, sony cassette tc-w295 with a RCA 5 disc CD player and a Samsung DVD/ video CD/CD player in stereo. It always worked when my...

There are a number of amplifiers in the TA series, but the connections are basically the same.
In your system, the amplifier serves as master control. How do you know? Look for the component that offers input selection -tuner, cassette, CD, video, phono and probably auxiliary. Every other component plugs into and is controlled by the integrated amplifier. For example, plug the tuner wires from the tuner output to the amplifier input marked "Tuner." To use the tuner, just select that input from the front panel. Same with all the other components.

On the back of that unit will a bunch of RCA jacks for left and right channels. Take the hook-up wires, usually RCA cables with colored plugs on each end, and connect the OUTPUT jacks on each separate component to the INPUT jacks on the amp. Power may also be controlled from the amp. On audio plugs, red is right and white is left. Keep the polarity constant as you connect each component. Connect the speaker wires to the speaker outputs, usually spring clips or screw terminals on the amplifier end and the same on each speaker. The DVD video cable will have three wires: Yellow, red and white. Yellow is always video. It may also have a little round video connector for S-VHS which provides a much better picture when using DVD.
Select your desired input and enjoy the show. Service Manual free download schematics datasheets eeprom bins pcb...

I have 1 center channel pre-out on back of my kenwood receiver. how do i hook it to the inputs on onkyo m-282 amp and then to center channel speaker?

Unfortunately can't connect it that way. The pre out is only meant to go directly into an amplifier that has all of the same inputs (front/rear, center and surround), not a standard receiver. (Pre amp to amp only, not pre amp to receiver) If your Onkyo doesn't have all the same inputs as your Kenwood preamp has outputs you will just use your standard left/right outputs from the Kenwood to your Onkyo input (CD, Tape, Phono,DVD etc) then use the outputs (front/rear, center and surround) from your Onkyo receiver and connect directly to your speakers..

I don't have any instructions so i don't know how to hook up my speakers and the t.v for surround sound i have a carver avr 100

You should be able to online to the manufacturer of your products and download manuals. However, I will try to help.

Connect the sound output cables from your DVD player including, left/right(white/red) as well as the Coax output/input if your DVD and your Carver each have this feature for enhanced sound on certain DVDs, and connect to the matching DVD inputs on your Carver.

Then, connect your DVD video output either by use of your RGB(RED/GREEN/BLUE cables or an S Video cable to your the matching video inputs on your t.v.

On the back of your Carver, you will find outputs for left and right speakers, connect to the left and right speakers with proper wire. Make sure that the 2 conductor wire is connected with the same side(polarity) on all speakers for the best sound quality.

You will also find rear channel left and right outputs on your amp, connect those to your rear right and left speakers.

Connect the center channel speaker to the center channel speaker output on your amp.

If your Amp has a sub-woofer output and you have a subwoofer, make the connections on that as well.

Test all of the speakers with a feature that many amps have on the menu using your remote, simply called test. if all speakers are connected correctly you will be able to hear each one as they are individually tested by the amp. Hope this helps out.

Is there any way i can connect an ipod to my ELan Viadj system?

There should be two RCA input jacks, (L & R), for audio input on the Elan. Use a cable with an 1/8 inch plug on one end that splits to two RCA plugs. Plug the 1/8 plug into the earphones jack and the RCA plugs into the audio input RCA jacks on the Elan. Set the iPod volume low so you won't distort the input signal.

How to hook up a pyramid pro plus 4 channel pb-180px without using rca jacks for 6 by 9s

The pb180 has High Input receptacles on the back end. They are marked High Input and identified as Channels 1&2 left/right, and channels 3&4 left/right. You will need to identify all speaker wires coming from your head unit ( left front +&--) , and so on. You will be sending the speaker wires from the head unit to the pb180's High Inputs. In other words, the front left speaker wires(+&-) from the head unit will go to the High Input Channels 1&2 side, left input of the pb180, and so on, so the speaker wires coming out of the head unit will need to be cut. And LABEL all sets of speaker wires before you cut them! Then on the OUTPUT end of the pb180, you will be sending the wires back to the the respective speaker wires which are going to the speakers. So it's out from head unit to pb180 and out from pb180 to speakers.
Hopefully you have the plugs that Pyramid uses for the speaker wire inputs to the amp. If not you have to get creative, and make up terminals to fit into the input receptacles. Maybe a wire terminal from Radio shack will fit those pins..
Also, if you go on line: Google search "Pyramid auto amps" and click on "SEARCH" (upper right hand) of their Web Page. Plug in your model number like this, pb180, and you'll be able to download the manual for this amp. The manual has a full description of the wiring options.

Hope this was helpful and Good Luck!

New speakers to an old (1960s) record player

It is difficult to say with 100% confidence because the pictures are out of focus, but it looks like you have just a regular turntable. The wire connections you show are the bridge between the tonearm and the external RCA style cables. The extra wire (#5) is the ground wire. You should be able to connect this to any receiver that has a phono input.

For confirmation, can you update this with the model number of the turntable? That will allow me to confirm what I have stated above.

Center speaker hookup to a MARANTZ mdl 2238

Hi tliguyanadig

You can hook up the speaker "between" left and right outputs. Just connect the center speaker between left +ve and right +ve outputs respectively. It will give a spacial effect that some like and some dont:) Try it and see for yourself. Your marantz amp will handle the load OK. It is rated 38 watts into 8 ohms, but there is not alot of load presented by this sort of setup. Let me know what you think.

Church System

Hi there Apostledavis

I don't know this specific system and you haven't mentioned whether you have just installed it or whether it has only just started causing problems but did work ok before?
However, there are a few things I would look at. I would also check the system right from the input bit by bit to see whether the problem is an input or output one.

1) Completely isolate the amp from all other equipment and connect a signal source to the left input only and then the right input only. If they sound much the same, the amp is probably ok. If they don't then the amp is probably faulty.

2) Check whether the monitors and amp both have weak output on the left channel.

3) Check and balance settings.

4) Check the speaker phasing.

5) Check all the interconnections, plugs and sockets. You could squirt some switch cleaner on a rag then wipe all the plugs before putting them back in the sockets.

6) Check the Behringer VU meters and make sure they indicate a reasonable balance on both channels.

7) Check that the channels sound ok when using headphones.

8) Check all faders and sliders by moving them vigorously to clear dust from the tracks. (Not applicable if digital, of course)

Hope this helps
