Canon Powershot A3400 won't turn on

Hi Jessie,

I looked at the troubleshooting section of the Canon Powershot A3400 Is manual and it suggested the following:

  • Confirm that your are using the correct type of battery, and that there is sufficient charge (p. 163). Sounds like you did this.
  • Confirm that the battery is inserted facing the correct way (p.17)
  • Confirm that the memory card/battery cover is fully closed (p.18)
  • Dirty battery terminals reduce battery performance. Try cleaning the terminals with a cotton swab and reinserting the battery a few times.
The manual also said that the batteries can deplete quickly in low temperatures. "Try warming the batteries a little by putting them in your pocket, for example, ensuring that the terminals do not touch any metal objects."

You can find the manual online here: http://aggregate.org/CACS/psa4000is-a3400is-a2400is-a2300-a1300-a810-cug-c-en.pdf

I also uploaded the manual to FixYa's Canon Powershot A3400 Is Product Page:http://www.fixya.com/support/p2861926-canon_powershot_a3400_16_megapixel_16_mp

Lastly, you can also check out Canon's Service & Support page for the camera: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/digital_cameras/powershot_a_series/powershot_a3400_is#ServiceAndSupport

Best of luck!

Cannon powershot sx10 is memory card problem

Assuming that the battery is good in the camera and that it will power OK othewise, then this is most likely a memory card problem.

Locate the problem to either the card or the camera, please:

1. try the card in another device, such as a computer with a card reader or another camera.

2. try the camera with a different card that is known to be good and that has been properly shutdown before removing from the previous device.

If the card works in another device then the problem is the camera and given the age, it probably needs to be replaced.

But if the camera works with a different card then the problem is the card and it probably has been corrupted. Try replacing it.

My Canon PowerShot A570 IS won't turn on. I put new batteries in and checked the memory card. What else can I do?

Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.

My Canon powershot s400 camera won't read memory card

First, remove the card, and look in the slot for any bent flash card pins. If you see any, don't fret, it's possible that you can fix this yourself. See this article on how to unbend flash card pins.

But if no pent pins are seen, then the camera's clock battery has worn out, and is likely causing this problem. Unfortunately this battery is internal to the camera. But Canon will fix this for you (for the S400 only) for free, with free shipping. Please see the Canon advisory for your camera here.

Camera reading memory card error, cannot get it to work. Tried removeing the card and replacing batteries. Checked and it is not locked.

try formatting the card once on a pc and then plug it in your camera....if that does not help either, you'll have to try a different card.

Memory card error

The clock button battery inside the camera has expired. Canon will fix this for free (or if you want, will send you a replacement battery with instructions on changing it out). Read the following recall advisory, then contact Canon at 1-800-OK-CANON:

Memory card error

On the old Powershot S400, this error was caused by a dead internal "clock" button battery. Fixing it required simply replacing the battery. But before you attempt to do that, would first suggest trying a different memory card.

Wont turn on

It may be the SD memory card causing the problem. I just bought a G7. When I turned it on without an SD card, no problem. I put it my old cheap SD card and it wont turn on. I take out the memory card and battery, then insert the Canon SD card and battery and turn it on, no problem.
Hope this helps someone.

Canon powershot G2

I just repaired my Canon G2 with the same symptom.  The internal PCB that you plug the external AC adapter is defective.  The numbers on the board are:
