Question about HP DesignJet 5000ps InkJet Printer

No magenta! The magenta is not printing. I tried replacing the magenta printhead but could not get it properly seated and put the old one back. I did clean it when the printhead was out of its spot. On the test print, no dark magenta prints at all. What is clogged and how can I fix it?

The diagnostic print shows no magenta at all. I tried to change the magenta printhead and even after cleaning it would not reseat. I put in the old one and calibrated and recovered printheads. Still no magenta. Could there be a clog somewhere?

The ink level of magenta says about 80% and printhead 21% (the old one). Suggestions needed! Thanks!

The old printhead doesn't feel like it has a lot of ink left. The new one beeps when I insert it, then I close the cover and the LCD display asks me to "lift window to access printheads" rather than proceed. Should I soak a new printhead in alcohol and water mixture to get it to work? Other remedies? Thanks!

Another related question: do I need to change the dyes (on left panel) when I change the printheads and printhead cleaner? I just cleaned the electric contacts for the magenta printhead with the special tool - Carriage Interconnect Wiper - and sponge, but it does not seem to help - in fact now the printhead doesnt even beep when inserted, even after drying. It keeps asking me to reseat. The old one (which doesn't show up when printing) reseats but the printer keeps asking me to recover printhead and even after doing so it doesn't print....

I have the right cartridge (#81) and the cartridge "fits." It just will not reseat properly when I put it in its slot, even after it beeps. The old one "fits" too but it does not recover properly. In both cases, no magenta appears on the prints. Can you help me?

Thank you for your response. Could you tell me where the injectors or outlets are located on the plotter?

Go to Control Panel->Printers->TroubleShoot. Locate the option Clean Printhead. It will print a page in all forma, B&W, color with thich line and what not. Printheads are not cleaned when detached from the printer. Its nozzles are so fine that they can be cleaned only by the ink.

The injectors or outlets are clogged and should be clean with a kit or rubbing alcohol and cotton swab

Put the new magenta cartridge in. as long as you bought the right cartridge it will fit. if it will not fit take the new one and the old one both to the store where u bought the new one and show the tech there what he sold you. if he still says it is the right one have him install it for you.

The printhead is clogged and must be replaced.

If you are not able to put the new printhead in place, you can try soaking the old one into isopropyl alcohol and water 70% solution. And leaving the old printhead one day or two.

If that does not fix the problem, then the printhead must be replaced.

Check the printhead nozzle status by printing the Diagnostic Print. You may have done this, but .. when replacing printheads, do the following: Ensure that the correct printhead is being replaced. Ensure that the printhead is the correct color for that slot. Ensure that the protective cap is removed from the printhead. Check the empty slot and clean the electrical contact (if needed) with a damp lint-free cloth before inserting the new printhead.Hope this helps.

Hi, the magenta ink won't work on my printer hp office jet pro k8600. I have replaced it with a new one and even though is shows that it's full on the ink levels it won't print it at all, I have tried all...

Materials needed: New empty syringe (big one) Gloves (to protect your hands fromink) Alcohol Paper tissue (to clean the excessink) Empty Plastic bottle (Here you putthe ink from the syringe) Important: Ensure that you have put new Magentaink cartridge to HP K8600. Ensure that the printhead arerecognized by the printer or no light alarms. Instruction: Press the Power button to turn onthe printer. Test print in microsoft excel with4 color black/yellow and cyan/magenta. If magenta only is missing means youhave clogged problem from the host. Wear your globes, prepare thematerials needed. Open the top cover. Press and hold the Resume buttonuntil the carriage moves to the left. CAUTION: Be careful not to proceed until the carriage is on the left sideof the printer. If the carriage does not move to the left automatically, turnthe printer off and back on and then try holding down the Resume button again. The printhead can be damaged if the carriage is not all the way to the left forinstallation. Lift the printhead latch. Lift the handle of a printhead anduse it to pull the printhead magenta/cyan out of its slot. Put printhead in thepaper tissue upward. Your printer are still ON becarefull not to touch the flex copper circuit. Get your syringe, use this to pullthe ink from the nozzle cap ( see link picture) After the done the syringe method,Insert the printhead magenta/cyan into its color-coded slot. Press down firmly on the printheaduntil it snaps into place. Pull the printhead latch all theway forward, and then press down until the latch engages. Close the cover. The printer should align theprintheads automatically in a few minutes, printing an alignment page. Print a test with magenta coloronly, If it does not print, try to change the Printhead. This is the only solution I foundin my HP k8600 printing problem.christan_11_1.jpg

Fulll ink cartridges but paper blank after printing

I've tried many kinds of cleaning and nothing helps save the old printhead. The only repair is to replace the printhead which costs around $100.00 for the part alone. It's not easy and should be done by a shop but a new machine would be less than the repair and you start again with a one year warranty.

Magenta printhead won't print.

Where the heads park, there is a foam pad under the heads that catches leaks and also cleans them. Remove that pad (wear rubber gloves--it's very messy) and either replace it or wash the old one in detergent and hot water, rinse, squeeze out, and let dry. Also, check the electrical contacts where the cartridge mounts. They may be coated with ink. Check the ribbon cable to that head for damage.

I have a iP4500 and it won't print the magenta. I

You need to try another cartridge before anything else, some generic carts. don't fit right in the printhead, the ink pad is too far up inside the cartridge. You may have a defective printhead, or possibly the purge unit is not cleaning properly. I can't tell without seeing the printer.

My HP Officejet Pro L7780 All-In-One InkJet Printer was jammed with paper. I believe I got it all out and now the display reads" Printhead problem- the following printhead has a problem: magenta/cyan...

There are two possibilities here Joanne, first, it could be a false error message or else second, the Cyan/Magenta print head has gone bad.Try the following:
1. Take the Cyan/Magenta printhead out. Remember, the printhead...not the cartridges.
Clean the copper contacts with a Q Tip, moistened with plain water. Wait till it dries, put the printhead back in.
2. If this does not resolve the issue, unplug the power cord from the back and press and hold the power cord for 30 sec. This will drain all the static charges. Plug it back after a couple of minutes and see if the error message re appears.

HP D135 - replaced printhead - still doesn't print in that color

try this link : I followed the directions and fixed the problem. the instructions that came with the new printhead weren't really complete.

Here's essentially all I did for my fix - Opened the printer top, turned the printer off. Removed the "bad" printhead, cleaned the metal contacts on the printhead and printer with windex. Closed the printer. Turned it on. waited for it to reset. Opened the printer. Turned the printer off again. Installed the printhead. Closed the lid. Plugged the printer in again. When it was ready I accessed the HP toolbox and alligned the printheads and cleaned the printheads. It worked. Here's a link with photos.
