Question about Refrigerators

2 Answers

Our GE side by side model GSS25SGRE is leaking water toward the front of the unit. We have pulled it out to see if it was condensation and that is not the problem. At times there is a lot of water that runs the grout lines of the floor and pools. This morning when I noticed the puddle, I opened the freezer door and saw that it is starting to accumulate alot of ice and this is a self defrosting unit. lastly, I noticed a sheet of ice at the bottom of the of the freezer compartment. What can be the problem as the refridge is only 4yrs old?

Okay, my name is marclavoris, what happens is your refrigerator goes into defrost, the heaters comes on and melts the freon off the coils, the water goes down in the drain, which you will see on the freezer side at the very bottom of freezer, you may need to take off inside back panel to access the hole. it is clogged up with alot of debri, so when it is backed up, it overflows under your bottom tray, it then goes into defrost again and it pushes water on your floor. To solve problem, clear the drain in the freezer

The drain coming from the freezer is plugged up. If tne drain goes out the back of the refrigerator try disconnecting it and blowing into the line towards the box then blow into drain towards bottom of box. This should do it.

Leaking after auto defrost runs

When a refrigerator defrosts and also during normal operation there is water from melting ice or condensing on the evaporator which is supposed to end up in a pan or container under the refrigerator. This is probably full. I'm not sure how to access this on your model but there's either a bottom front cover which can be easily removed and the pan can slide out or through the access panel in the back towards the bottom. Hope this helps.

My hampton bay air conditioner has started leaking badly after running it lfor a few hours, from the front right side

For window mount units, the unit must slope towards the outside. Water is a normal byproduct of refrigeration, like condensation on a glass of ice water.... Volume of water is not an issue, water dripping inside is. All water is intended to go outside, via unit slope.

Water is leaking out the front of the unit

Water is a normal byproduct of the refrigeration process, Just like a glass of icewater has condensation on the outside of the glass.

The unit is designed to run the water outside. Check the slant of the unit, if it slants inside water will not exit outside..needs slight downward tip towards the outside.

Also check that the drain system is not plugged.

Water sensor light keeps coming on even tho tank empty have checked hoses and cleaned large filter at front

try cleaning out the condenser unit, instuctions are on pages 2 and 3 of your manual, if you dont have it download it from the indesit website.
fluff and old stuff gathers in it, if you leave it too long it will burn out the thermostat
instructions below.

Step 1

Open the condenser cover

- grip the handle and pull

towards you.

Step 2

Remove the condenser by

turning the 3 catches, then pull

the condenser towards you. (It is

normal for some residual water

to be left in the tubes).

Step 3

Clean the condenser with running

water over the rear side to

remove any fluff deposits.

Step 4

Replace the condenser unit;

make sure that the unit is

securely in place, that all 3

catches are fixed and that the

position arrows on the front end

of the condenser are pointing

upwards.

The same thing happened to me. If you pull the refrigerator out and remove the large silver panel, you will see the water lines on the left. The line going to the ice maker was fine, but the line going to the water dispenser was split. You may have the same issue.

GE Zoneline PTAC Leaking

Hi Julie,
Is this a newly installed unit? The problem sounds like the sleeve is improperly installed. The sleeve should slope approximately 1/4 inch downward from inside to outside. This way the water will run to the back of the pan where it will be picked up by the slinger fan, or drain to the outside. Most likely this is the cause, not the styrofoam pan. If you need further info, you can contact me at greg.mcnary(at)airdistributors.com (replace (at) with @) and I can get you detailed installation instructions.

Water leak

There is a problem with the condesation drain being plugged in the bottom of the unit. The water is supposed to drain onto a "condensation pan" under the unit where it typically evaporates without causing problems.

I believe that the solution was to pour bleech in the drain...
