Question about Panasonic PT-43LC14 43" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

I have owned the PT-43LC since Nov. 2005. Up until now, it has been a great HDTV. Today, I had my first "issue" and have yet to discover a fix. I turn the TV on and it blinks green, indicating that the lamp is powering up. After way too long, the power light again blinks red and the lamp indicator blinks once every 5 seconds. I don't think my bulb is burned out but my only fix according to the manual is to turn the power on several times.

That sounds like a bulb. You should pull it out and check it.
Pretty easy to do, but if mine did the same type thing, replaced the lamp and powered right up.

It looks like a problem with a tube (projector light) I suspect the green one. Pay attention to flickering on the lights and post me the results.

When TV is powered on (either manually or with remote) it turns on and off on it's own for about 1.5 minutes until it eventually stays on. Once on it runs great. Any suggestions?

Hello, I just answered someone else with the similar problem. I don't know if this will solve your issue but you can at least rule it out.
I have a different brand flat screen that had the same problem. I would turn it on and it would play for few minutes (sometimes even an hour without a problem) but then it would suddenly turn off and it would take some time until I could start it back again.
I've checked the internet, called the company and finally decided to take it back to the store.
Then I discovered the problem.. It sounds ridiculous I know but the electricity plug where it connects to the TV was faulty. So my TV would be on, then it would just go off due to lack of power. After discovering this we fixed the cord and for months now it's been working fine. It never turns off by itself anymore.
Maybe the same thing happened to your TV which is a very easy fix, so take a look at the cord before you send it in for repairs.
Good luck :)

We have owned our Sony Bravia KDL46Z5100 since last Nov. We had trouble in June with it shutting Off and coming back on by itself. We took it in 3 times and the 3rd time they put in something and it...

Have you updated the firmware on the TV? I know that there are a few issues that were corrected in the latest release where the TV will randomly power off and back on. I have owned this TV for 1.5 years and have never seen this issue. However, I do try to keep the firmware updated.

Repair places will generally look for hardware issues and not at the firmware side of things. Try the software update first before spending any more time and/or money with TV repair places.

Vertical lines across my entire screen

My 42" Samsung Plasma HDTV HP-R4252 has a 2" vertical strip of green pixels down the right side of the screen.

My 3 year warranty with Circuit City expires in Nov 2008.. so I hope I'm covered.. can't call until the morning.

Samsung said it might be a logic board problem.. but they want almost $2000 to fix. I might as well buy another TV if Circuit City can't fix it.

This unit has a chonic issue with corruption in the eeprom that causes spots and shadows. The correction is to find some service center that has the jig to hook up to your unit and correct the eeprom. This is an extended warranty issue with Panasonic and if you contact them they should be able to refer you a qualifed service center and Panasonic will pay.
