Question about Garmin Edge 305 HRM kit

My 305 unit will not turn on. It has been sitting on the charger for 3 days..Is there a reset option? It is only 2 months old, but is a refurbished unit. It was working fine the last time it was used.

Try pressing the mode and power buttons together although you may lose your data, if this does not work leave it off the charger for a few hours and then try to start it,, this happened to my olde 305 and after leaving it overnight it started again....they are sometimes tricky

It is totally dead and will not charge.

Had same issue... this worked for me:
1. Snap into charger base & plug into wall. Screen still blank. 2. Press Lap/reset, Mode, & Power buttons all three at the same time & hold for 3 seconds - unit will reset. Hopefully then you'll get the 'charging in progress' message.
(also make sure copper points/connectors on unit and charger base are clean).

Garmin 305 charged-will not turn on-waited

These units seem to be sufering from a bad conection on the inside of the unit. My wife's did the same thing. There was a connection inside that wasn't making contact. First try cleaning the 4 brass connection tabs on the watch and check your charger to make sure the tabs are raised and not squished. Second try to reset the unit. Hit mode reset and power buttons all at the same time. Hold these for 3 seconds and then release. If these do not work here is what I did. There are no screws holding the unit together. I used a exacto blade to very carefully pry the unit apart along the side seam. It's not easy to do. Be very cautious and gentle. Work the thickness of the blade into the joint to gently wedge apart. You are not trying to remove material! Once apart you will see some fingers that make a connection between the upper and lower part of the unit. This is where the problem was with my wife's 305. I gently raised these tabs to make a better connection, It's been working ever since. I didn't try it before but try pressing very hard on the unit where it says Forerunner 305. The case is very hard so it might not work. But if it powers up when pushing you found your problem. Hope this helps. Here is a link I found on opening a 205 (Same process)http://ctorunner.googlepages.com/dismantleforerunner205To put the unit back together use Automotive silicon/gasket maker.Use a tooth pick to put a VERY small amount of silicon around the entire seam. Put the two half's together and wrap tightly with electrical tape. Test the unit immediately to see if it powers on and off. If it does not open it back up and raise the small prongs that make the connection from the bottom half to the top half. If any silicon squishes out the sides wipe with water and a rag.Let the unit sit over night. In the morning remove the tape.

Won't power on. it was working fine. I turned it off with lots of power still in the battery and now, the next day, it won't power on or recognize the charger when it's plugged in or anything?!

Won't turn on...hear the beep, and screen works.

Exact same problem for me on the exact same day (2-sep) as well - freaky! Unit was out of battery and I charged it but that was the last time I managed to get it working - charging it now to see if it makes any diff. Actually with mine I hear the beep and the initial splash screen shows for about 1 sec and then that's it - it seems to go off again. I think it's something to do with the battery as it seems to work when connected to the charger - not a whole lot of good to me!

My Garmin 305 has died

Did you try a soft reset:

With the unit in hand press and hold the mode reset and power buttons all at the same time. Hold these for 3 seconds and then release.
