There may be power at the end but is it within specs for the power output the laptop needs to power on and run. Laptops are very sensitive to the power they receive and don't like to settle for anything else. If the power cord is indeed good, then I would seriously look at and test the DC jack, its solder points and the tension bar inside the jack that holds the plug in place also check that the center contact pin inside the jack has not been snapped off or displaced.

Sounds like the battery - try pulling the battery and powering on the laptop. Also, on occasion, even w/ a power light on the ac adapter, it still could be bad - try another one - you can pick one up from best buy, or another electronics store, and, if it works, you're good to go - if not, return it!

Hope this helps - good luck!

Nothing happens when push start button. power cord etc good ??? is this a power unit failure?

make sure the outlet is recieving power

unplug the tower from the outlet & then replug it in & see what happens

make sure all cords are plugged in correctly in the back of the tower

then if nothing happens after you push the start button, power supply & cord could be bad

the same thing happened to my daughter's pc & had to replace power supply & shorted out the motherboard

When I plug in the printer, the screen lights up, the "on" button and the "cancel" buttons light momentarily but nothing happens. The screen stays lit and pushing the on-off does nothing. It will not...

Try this: first disconnect the power cord from the Printer, then disconnect the USB cable, then unplug the printer power cord from the wall. Wait 10 minutes and plug everything back in In Reverse Order. See if that does it. I had a similar problem with my PSC 1610v and that is what HP had me do and it worked for me.

Nothing happens when you push the power button

i could be static build up . this is common. Try taking the battery out and unplug the power adapter. now with both removed press the power button on the laptop for approx 20 secs. then plug it in and see if it boots up.

Vg2230wm monitor Will not power on

probably your power supply. Is it a cord direct from plug in for is there a box between where you plug it in and then a small round end that goes into the monitor. This would be the good news. If it plugs in direct then that means the power sopply is in the monitor itself which means more expensive to fix

If the power cord is firmly plugged in - both ends, remove the battery. Does it turn on now? If so, replace battery.

My Toshiba Satellite won't power up at all. No lights, nothing??

It happens all the time, laptops are known for power cords going bad. Because of the plugging un-plugging and twisting. This is a $25 solution after you have verified power from the wall and be sure the cables are secure throughout the power cord, this is 4 connections that needs to be checked.

To get your CD out of the drive this is simple if system won't power up. Get a paperclip and bend the end on the outside to a 90 degree angle. If you look on the CD/DVD there will be a pin hole, simply push the paperclip into the hole and when it stops, push harder and the drive should open manually.

Either the new power supply you purchased is not functioning correctly. But, assuming it is now that you are getting some form of power to your PC, it is very likely the motherboard. Whatever fried your old power supply (or it could have just been the power supply itself) most likely fried your motherboard in the process. Probably not the CPU since the MB can't even post.
