Can't view laptop display on panasonic plasma using hdmi cable

I have a compaq presario cq60 laptop, I also have a panasonic viera 50" plasma television. I am trying to use my tv as a display for my laptop using an hdmi cable. But the laptop will not talk to the tv (or vise versa). I tried updating drivers with no change to the outcome.

I just can't work out how to make my laptop find the tv as an external display sourse.

Can anyone offer any help??

Sorry neither of those solutions helped :(

I am running vista. I right click on the desktop and choose "personalise" then I select "connect to an external display", windows mobility centre pops up and I click on the "connect display button" but it finds nothing.

    Can anyone help??

Whenthe notebook computer is in HDMI mode, images sometimes do not displayat all; other times, images and text display, but it is distorted. Toresolve this issue, please download and install the NVIDIA GeForce 9200GS driver, version 7.15, revision A (SP42668) or later at the HP Software & Driver downloads page.

Hope this helps - good luck!

If you are using windows, try going to the screen resolution page(right click desktop and click properties and then click the last tab for xp, or right click desktop and click personalize and then screen resolution. There you should see two black rectangles. Click the second one(he one that's grayed out) and set a resolution in the dropdown menu. Then the tv should show your computer screen. You can also fool around with the resolutions. Good luck!

Connect my laptop to tv using vga to hdmi converter

Make sure you are on the correct input for hdmi on the TV through it's remote. Then look to this link below for direction on how to get your laptop to display out, instead of its LCD screen:

What cable do i need to connect my pannasonic viera px-p42g20b to my compaq presario v6642ea

Hi gmickg,

From what i can see your compaq presario has both hdmi and vga outputs the panasonic viera you have both a vga and hdmi input. Therefore you can use both a vga lead or a hdmi lead. Hdmi also outputs audio therefore it is probably a better choice.

Can i connect my panasonic viera th-42px8ou plasma tv,to my vista desk top? my tv has hdmi on it,my vista tower also says it has 1 hdmi connector on the back of it

You can buy an HDMI to DVI adapter (around 20$) to connect your HDMI computer cable to your TV. You will need separates audios cables, right and left, to bring the sound to the TV.

I have a cq40 laptop and im tryiny to use an lg plasma as monitor, thru vga cable, i just cant seem to find the image in the tv waht do i have to do

You need to go to the laptops diisplay settings and set the 2nd display, you can copy (clone) or extend the desktop.
On your TV choose the VGA connection with the AV button, this is sometimes marked as a screen with an arrow in it, this is the button you press to change between your hdmi, scart and arial etc

What do I need to connect my dell Inspiron B130 to my panasonic viera tv?

Hi. Try buying a VGA-to-HDMI cable/adapter and connect the VGA to the side of your Dell B130 and the HDMI end to the back of your Viera. Press Fn+F8 on your laptop and you should be able to view the display on your TV.

Hope it helps... ^_^

Just bought a 50 panasonic viera, when we hook up ps3 on hdmi cable, we have sound but no picture.

Plasma TV normally do not have the resolution required for PS3 unless the plasma TV is fullHD( 1920x1080p) pixels.

HD Ready Plasma = 1024 x 768p
PS3 Outputs = (fullHD)1920x1080 or (HDReady) 1280 x 720p.

LCD TV accepts the resolution matches the resolution the PS3 is outputting.

Connecting my compaq presario 2200 to my panasonic viera 42"

If your computer has a VGA port on the side then it has video out. I've never seen a laptop without one but I guess that does not mean they don't exist :) I'm not sure what model of Viera you have, but the one that comes up on Amazon has a VGA input built in. If yours does then a simple old school monitor cable from a desktop computer will do the trick.

Here is a good one cheap:

If not, you can buy a VGA adapter:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10401&cs_id=1040113&p_id=2509&seq=1&format=2

Also, if you want audio to play through the tv/stereo, you will need to get a cable to carry audio as well. This is what you will be needing:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021803&p_id=663&seq=1&format=2

and this:

The stuff I linked to are for 25' so you can hide the cables around the room from wherever you would be sitting but you get the idea.

If it gives you hope, I did this with my Fathers compaq laptop to his panasonic 50" plasma and it worked great!

Good luck!
