Question about Lexmark X2500 All-In-One Printer

Says the color cartridge is missing, but it is not. made sure the plastic was not still covering the cartridge and tried reinstalling the cartridge and restarting it a few time. still no luck. help??!

You should always mention the printer model as well as what operating system you use.

This is what i found on LEXMARK's website about your error, and it seems you have one or 2 faulty cartridges, or you are using compatible cartridges instead of Lexmark Originals:

Problem Error messages; Error: "Cartridge Error 50C"; Cartridge error; Black cartridge missing; Color cartridge missing Solution Cartridge Error 50C
Your print cartridge has shorted.

  1. Power off your All-in-One and unplug it.

  2. Plug in your All-in-One again and turn it on.

  3. Uninstall and then reinstall your cartridges.

  4. If this does not resolve the issue, try the troubleshooting steps for the other cartridge errors below.

Error: Black Cartridge Missing
The black cartridge is not installed. (Install cartridge PN 82)
Error: Color Cartridge Missing
The color cartridge is not installed (Install cartridge PN 83)
Cartridge Error
Complete the following instructions:

  1. Power off your All-in-One.

  2. Use both hands to lift up the scanner unit until the scanner support holds it open.

  3. Turn the All-in-One on. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.

  4. Remove the color print cartridge.

  5. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.

  6. If the error message reappears, replace the black print cartridge with a new print cartridge.
    If it does not repeat steps 1-3 and then go to step 7.

  7. Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black print cartridge.

  8. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.

  9. If the error message occurs again, replace the color cartridge.

  10. If an error message reappears, repeat steps 1-3 and reinstall both print cartridges.

  11. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.

  12. If you receive the error message again, replace both cartridges.

removed and uninstall the cartridge once more, or cleam with dry cloth the metallic surface on your ink, gently rub until you removed any dirt, if you cannot fix it chances are the cartridge is damage already and you need to buy a new one

I just installed new refilled printer cartridges #27 and #17 and I am getting a missing cartridge at the color side. Please help me to solve this problem. Thank you so much.


Make sure you are inserting only genuine Lexmark cartridges.
Please follow the steps below to fix the problem:

1. Make sure the printer is on.

2. Open the printer cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.

3. Remove the color cartridge from the carrier.

4. Close the printer cover.

5. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it.

6. When the printer turns on, reinsert the color cartridge.

7. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.


If error re-appears, try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if the other is faulty. Or better yet, replace your color cartridge with a new one.

HP4150 error "remove and check color cartridge"


  1. Make sure the printer is on. Press the Power button if it is not lit.
  2. Open the printer cover, and then wait until the carriage is idle and silent.
  3. Press down gently on the top of the cartridge to release it.
  4. Make sure all the clear protective tape has been removed from the nozzle and electrical contact area
  5. Reinstall the cartridge in the product and try again to print.
  6. : Make sure the cartridge is compatible
  7. Open the printer lid and wait until the carriage stops moving, and then unplug the power cord.
  8. Remove the cartridge and place it on a piece of paper with the nozzle plate facing up.
  9. Dip a clean cotton swab in distilled water, and then squeeze it to remove most of the moisture.
  10. Clean the print cartridge contacts. Do not touch the nozzles.
  11. Clean the contacts inside the carriage, inside the printer.
  12. Either let the cartridge sit for ten minutes to allow the cleaned area to dry, or use a new swab to dry it.
  13. Reinstall the cartridge, plug in the power cord, close the printer cover, and then try again to print.

Reading incorrect color cartridge


Please let me know whether you have replaced the cartridge with a new one or you have refilled it.

If it is a new cartridge than try below mentioned steps :-
Remove both cartridges (even if the message indicates only one cartridge
Unplug the printer.
Inspect the cartridges:
If the cartridges are new, make sure the protective tape has been removed completely.
Make sure the cartridges are not damaged. If the copper-colored electrical strip is torn or punctured, the cartridge must be replaced.
Make sure the cartridges are compatible with the printer.

Reinstall the cartridges
Make sure each cartridge is in the correct slot
Make sure the cartridge is snapped into place and the latch is closed
Close the front cover and plug the printer back in.

If the steps above have not solved the problem than Wipe the copper-colored electrical contacts with a clean, dry, lint-free cotton cloth
Reinstall the cartridges, close the front cover, and plug the printer back in

Just replaced color inks but giving error 10.0002 Supply error


Seems to be a problem with the magenta cartridge try removing it and reinstalling it also make sure you removed all the tapes that it had.

Description E-label cannot be read or print cartridge is not properly installed. Action
  1. Open the front cover of printer and remove the toner cartridge exhibiting error.
  2. Inspect the print cartridge to ensure the e-label reader is attached to print cartridge and is not damaged.
  3. Inspect the inside of printer to verify the e-label does not have any product packing tape still attached.
  4. Inspect the e-label reader to ensure the gold contact points are not damaged or bent. Also inspect the black plastic on e-label reader to ensure it is not bent or broken.
  5. Reinstall the print cartridge.
  6. Power cycle the device.
  7. If reinstalling the print cartridge does not resolve the issue, replace the print cartridge.
  8. If the problem continues, contact HP Customer Support Center for technical assistance at http://www.hp.com/support/clj2600n or see the flyer that came in the printer box for additional contact information.

check cartridge compatibility first:- HP Deskjet 810c HP15................black cartridge compatibility HP 23 ....................colour cartridge compatibility Issue ---A print cartridge is missing. Solution Install the missing cartridge. Issue --The printer detects a faulty, incompatible, or improperly installed print cartridge. Solution 1. Open the top cover of the printer. 2. Make sure the correct print cartridges are installed. Click here to go to the printer/cartridge compatibility chart. 3. Replace or reinstall the print cartridges. 4. Close the top cover of the printer. Issue ---The print cartridge contacts are dirty and the printer does not recognize the print cartridge. Solution Clean the contact points on the cartridges with a dry, lint-free cloth. 1. Open the top cover of the printer. 2. Remove the print cartridges. 3. Clean the copper-colored contact points on the cartridges with a dry, lint-free cloth. Error code 1203


To determine whether this error is due to a cartridge failure or a hardware problem with the printer, do the following: Make sure the printer is powered on. Open the printer's top cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position. Press down on the cartridge lever to raise the cartridge lid. Remove the cartridges. With the cartridges out of the printer, close the top cover. Power the printer OFF and then back ON. Check the operator panel to see if the 1203 error has returned or if a new message is displayed. If the message displayed is 1203, there is something wrong with the printer hardware. Please contact Lexmark Technical Support. If the message is Cartridge Missing, reinstall the cartridges into the printer. Insert the black cartridge in the left carrier. Insert the color cartridge in the right carrier. Snap the lids closed. Close the top cover. Check the operator panel. If the 1203 message is still present, you need to insert one cartridge at a time to determine which cartridge is producing the failure. With one cartridge in the carrier, close the top cover and check the operator panel. If the 1203 message is displayed, that cartridge is producing the error. If Cartridge Missing is displayed, the second cartridge is the defective item. Please replace the defective cartridge.
