Fix the mode

Try a reset SHIFT 9 (CLR) and reset 3:All
Also if Mode:1: COMP gives Complex, maybe MODE:2:CMPLX will give you the usual COMP mode. (wires may be crossed). I have a calculator that has two keys inverted. I made a note of it and keep it taped inside the sliding cover.

You're in BASE-N mode for integer arithmetic. Press MODE 1 to get to COMP mode for real arithmetic or MODE 2 for CMPLX mode for complex arithmetic.

You need to be in complex mode before you can do any calculations involving complex numbers. Press MODE 2 to switch to CMPLX mode. When you're done, press MODE 1 to switch back to COMP mode. (Yes, the names are confusing. I didn't pick them.)

How to add polar quantities and display result in polar or rectangular co-ordinate?

If you're dealing with complex numbers, the arithmetic doesn't matter what display mode you're in. Just enter the number and do the math. To switch the display mode, press SHIFT MODE down 3 to select CMPLX, then make your choice.

SC-6103 aurex prestige calculator

You must have pressed the MODE key followed by SOLV , QUAD or SIMUL-2 or SIMUL-3 . If the calculator has these a programs they solve a Quadratic equation, a simultaneous system of two linear equations (SIMUL-2) . a system of 3 linear equations (SIMUL-3).

To use these solvers (IF YOU ARE INTERESTED), you select the solver you want and you will be prompted for a first coefficient (a, or a1). You enter the value and press the DATA key and you will be prompted for the next coefficient.

To exit the Solver mode press the MODE key followed by the key next to which there is DEC or >DEC. It might also be marked COMP.
Sorry, I do not have that very calculator but an other AUREX Scientific calculator (DS-752C).

I have the casio fx 115 and I am not sure exactly what modes to keep it in, such as cmplx or comp, and/or deg or rad. I am trying to find e^(0.03*5) but the calculator says syntax error. What is going on?...

I get an answer of one.
To clear your calculator back to default, to the following:

shift
CLR (the button 9)
3 (select option 3 = All
= (the equal button)
AC (the red AC button)

Your calculator is now reset to factory settings
Now try your calculation.
