The larger elements use 240 volts and your losing 1 leg of the 240volts and only getting 120volts to these elements

Neff oven element glows white

It sounds like the wrong replacement element for the power it is getting. If you are using a 220Volt stove, the element MUST be for that voltage and NOT for 110 Volts.

The grill gets hot but doesn't brown the food?

Normally, if a grill element fails, it just stops working. So if they are working then on full power, both elements should get red hot! If this is the case, all I suggest is that you try experimenting with different heights with the grill tray. And by the way, don't shut the door when you are grilling as this shuts the grill off!

My sister's oven element burned out. Never having replaced one before, I asked a friend how to get it out & he told me. I asked about turning power off & he said as long as the oven is off no need....

First, you should always turn the power off to replace the element. One side of the element always has 120 VAC applied and it turns the oven on by applying 120VAC to the other side giving 240 across the element. Most ovens have L1 branching out to both the bake, and broil elements, and it also branches out to the control board and all of the switches that run your top elements. If you don't have an element in the bottom, its likely that L1 is grounded out and is tripping the breaker as soon as it's turned on. So if you install the new element it should fix your problem, however if it doesn't you might have burned up the L1 wire somewhere and will just have to trace it back.

Last night, we were using our Frigidaire oven to heat some salmon. My wife openned the oven door and there was a bright flash with sparks and a crackling noise, and a 1/2 inch portion of the element caught...

Kill the power to the stove. L2 is always hot to the element. If it welded itself to the frame whats left of the element stays hot. Easy fix but power needs to be OFF

WHY WON'T MY OVEN HEAT UP?

Most modern gas ovens and many broilers use a "glow-bar" style of igniter that glows red-hot to ignite the gas. If the igniter doesn't reach the proper temperature, the gas valve won't open. You may need to replace the igniter.
