Question about Mitsubishi WS-48613 48" Rear Projection Television

Mitsubishi VS-50705, 50 inch Rear projection TV won't turn on!

Hi, the tv was working fine & it has barely been used since '99. I haven't used it in forever. I plugged it into the wall outlet & it won't turn on. The green light in front just clicks on & off 1 second. The TV won't turn on though. The power button on the TV does the same. Is it because I don't have the TV Cable plugged in? I doubt that. What happened? I don't know what to do?!! Please help me. Is there a reset button or something??

Thank you ctf1800!!! I checked the error code & it's 23=Horizontal deflection failure. What should I do now? Can I fix this myself easily? I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a technician. The Tv's only worth like $200 now. Please let me know if there's anything i can do!

    Thank you!

HI ctf1800! Wow! Ur so smart. I don't know what language ur speaking. :( hehe. Is it possible to help me locate all that stuff easier? I don't know which part it is. I don't know how to locate it. Is there a picture or something somewhere where you could locate that stuff for me? I don't know where to start except to open the back of the tv. Are all those things on the board? And how do I know if it's shorted? If it is shorted...how do i replace it? Is it easy & cheap to buy that piece?

    THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!

Hello ctf1800! Happy new year! Thank you for your detailed advice! I called a tv repair guy & told him the error code 23 & he said it's probably a coolant leak because this model gets that problem a lot. I don't want to pay $50 just to come look at it. I didn't see any leaks on the board when we opened it.

He also said that there is no replacement if it is because this model is discontinued.

Another guy said that I have to replace the power supply. I'm confused.

I'm getting sad. This tv is like new! :( I want to try to fix it myself, but I still don't understand how to find the parts you're telling me to look for. I'm a total dummy. I don't know what capacitors, etc. are. If I take a picture can you point out what to do?

    Thank you!!!!!!!!

Mitsubishi 50" lg rear projection tv wont turn-I gave this TV to a coworker and she said no lights or anything will work. It worked the night before we gave it to her. Would something have happened in the move? It was not put on it's side.

Most of the time the convergance ic go bad:
but try this:
The 3 flashes of the led when you plug the unit in is the
microprocessor initializing.

This unit has an error code diagnostics.

On the front panel of the unit press and hold the INPUT and MENU
buttons at the same time and hold them down for about 5 or 6 seconds.
The unit should activate it's error code mode.

The led will flash count the number of flashes. It will then pause for
1/2 or 1 second. The led will flash again count the number of flashes.
The unit will repeate this for about 5 or 6 times.

You now have the two digit error code. The first time the led flashed
is the first number of the error code, the next time the led flashed is
the last number of the error code.

12 ----------- indicates no error
21 ------------- X-Ray Protect circuit
22 ------------ Short Protect circuit
23 ------------- Horizontal Deflection failure
24 ------------- Vertical Deflection failure

Most units give a error code "22" short protect circuit. If so check:

Q5A00
C557

If Q5A00 check bad there are other parts that have to be checked or
replaced.

If you are able to do above call a tech to service the unit

Depends on how good you are at soldering and unsoldering,
    First check:
CHECK SOLDER CONNECTIONS AT CONNECTOR "DY" ON THE YOKES. 2. SHUTDOWN AT
    POWER WITH SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK C411 2200 UFD 35 V AND
C412 10 UFD 50 V, BOTH LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB.
    then:
the horz. defection is the horz output transistor and and the high voltage transformer/splitter i would check the horz transistor first. see if it's shorted

the DY connections is the connector going to the tube 4 heavy colored wires there is a set of three, this would only require soldering skills to resolder these connectors they are on the main board, i would replace the capacitors no matter what these you can get at radio shack, the out put transistor you will have to know how to work a multi meter to test for short cant help you there, but you could get the part online at like Mcm electronics (capacitors too) high voltage splitter would have to get at a manufacture reseller site

Annie after thinking about this maybe the best thing to do would be to send it into PTS for repair, however there is high voltage in the tubes and on some boards.

Got a Mitsubishi vs-8070, everything works fine then the screen turns off after about 15 minutes sound still works fine. Help.

Does this unit have a projection bulb in the back end of the set? Just based on my experience with a friend's 65 inch rear projection TV, there might be an indicator light on the front panel that may blink if the rear projection bulb is failing. If there is a failing bulb it could account for the screen going black with everything else just fine, after the bulb gets heated up in 15 minutes.

Sylvania TV - volumn is so low we must turn it all the way up and even then can barely hear on some stations. We have dish tv.

The Dish receiver may have a volume function that is causing the problem. Use the Dish remote to increase the volume and see what happens.

If the picture looks like a 3D then you have a convergence failure.
I would suggest to visually inspect the STK Ics for dry or crystallized solder joints.

IC8C02 - STK392-110

You could have a problem in the sweep or main power supply, Bad capacitors on the DM module, they will be all grouped together and have swollen tops, Coolent fluid leaking out of one of the CRT's. If you have no electronic or solid state repair experience, please get a pro to assist you in this repair. Good Luck
