I have an Onkyo TR-606 receiver and a new Samsung PS50B550 plasma TV. I would like to control the TV on/off from the Onkyo remote. What is the Samsung code I need to input from the Onkyo reciever in order to do this?

Hello: Thank you for your suggestion. I have the full owner's manual for the TR-606. I have tried all the same Samsung codes you listed there, and none of them works. I suggest that the TV model is too new to have had its code listed in the manual. -- Regards, Mike Reeves

Thank you for your additional list of 23 additional numbers dated Sep 13. I note the huge success rate for this list. However none of these new numbers were successful. I can only assume there is some variable here which is pretty imponderable. Regards, Mike Reeves

Hello Kirsty: Thank you for the list of 25 Samsung codes. Unfortunately none of these work either. I wonder if I have given you enough information. Here is some additional background:

I can control my Blu-ray player from the Samsung remote -- the Samsung plasma has a thing called Anynet which it uses to start up the Blu-ray player. The menu on the TV screen shows both standard HDMI and HDMI-Anynet connections. Clearly my Onkyo TR-606 receiver DOES NOT operate with Anynet, and I wonder if that could be part of the reason why I cannot turn the TV on from the Onkyo receiver. Prior to this I was using a Panasonic Viera plasma, and it worked fine turned on from the Onkyo. Also the Samsung owner's manual included the correct turn-on code for the Panasonic. Both the Panasonic TV and the Onkyo are relatively new models -- less than 10 months old -- but the new Samsung plasma was only released a few months ago. Its model number in the US is slightly different from New Zealand: PN50B550.

I'm sorry if all this info is just garbage, but I'm not completely sure what info you need to really get at this problem. Thanks and regards, MIKE REEVES

A few minutes ago I sent you a note saying none of the Samsung codes you supplied actually worked. Just to be sure, I decided to enter them all again in a DARKENED room. This time one of the codes worked successfully. Just for your info (in case somebody else has the same problem) the successful code was 0030. I really appreciate your help in this. Admittedly it is a little thing, but I know this kind of stuff really eats up your hours. Again, thanks very much, MIKE REEVES

It took three tries, but the last one finally worked. I know this kind of petty thing is pretty small beer in the great scheme of things that includes recession and Islamic terrorism, but nevertheless I am very grateful for your persistence in providing a solution. You have a terrific site. Regards, MIKE REEVES

Onkyo Codes for Samsung remotes?

Hi, unfortunately this remote does not have the ability to program to your Onkyo receiver. You must use your original Onkyo remote to control the volume of it. If you need a new Onkyo remote you can purchase one from Replacement Remotes. You can also buy a universal remote to program and work for both your units, so you will not have to keep switching back in forth between remotes. If you would like a universal I suggest getting the RFS200, this remote will even work if your receiver is not in direct line of site.

Samsung plasma 50in PS50B550 clicking noise

The clicking could be a loose connecction of the power plug or frrom the main power unit of your TV. Remove your plug and see the ends for burn outs, if so clean and use a different outlet. If not open the set after disconnection and check your main power supply unit for loose connection particularily in the surge protector, the main capacitor, the main drive, diodes or connectors. Wait to hear the sound and use a long insulated rod as a probe to confirm the origin of the sound. Solder or replace the damaged item. Hope this helps . Good day

I cannot get video signal from my Samsung p1590 Blu Ray player via HDMI to pass through my Onkyo TX-SR606 AV Receiver. I get video if I connect Blu Ray player directly to TV, and have tried all HDMI ports...

I think this one is for the Onkyo wizards:

I would write them via email here:

http://www.onkyousa.com/feedback_form.cfm

1-800-229-1687
However I did find this 2 page hookup manual with nice notes at link listed below that may help you solve the mystery:

(seems you may have to assign the digital input)

http://filedepot.onkyousa.com/Files/QuickHookup/TX-SR606_QSS_En_A.pdf?CFID=918117&CFTOKEN=40624545&jsessionid=f0306ea8a0d68bb60a49102e3e5510576756

Assigning the Digital Input
If there’s no sound, you’ll need to assign the digital inputs as
necessary using the setup menus on the TX-SR606’s display.
If you connect your DVD player to the AV receiver’s COAXIAL 1
DIGITAL IN, and your cable/satellite receiver to the COAXIAL 2
DIGITAL IN, as shown, it’s not necessary to assign the digital input.
The onscreen setup menus appear only on a TV that is
connected to the HDMI OUT. If your TV is connected to the composite video or S-Video MONITOR OUT, or the
COMPONENT VIDEO OUT, use the TX-SR606’s display when changing settings.

Thanks for using FixYa!

Onkyo remote won't control Samsung components.

I got an Onkyo RC-717M remote control. It is the remote that comes with the Onkyo TX-SR706 receiver. It is a learning remote. When i entered the cde for the Samsung Blu-Ray it did the same thing as the other remotes I got from Onkyo, the pause, next / previous track buttons wouldn't work for the Samsung BD-P3600. I used the learning function of the new remote and programmed it to work. It works ok now but it sure was a hassle to get it done. In fairness i should have called Onkyo support but their support hours don't match my schedule.

HDMI "blackout" issue

There is no "self fix" your receiver is HDMI version 1.1, 1.2, or 1.2a. Has a board problem from HDMI. It can be repaired and upgraded to version 1.3b which is the current format that seems to work in all scenerios. If your receiver is still under warranty the fix is N/C. If not, call Onkyo Customer support, alot of AV receivers pre 09' have this same issue and if you raise enough eyebrows, you may be able to get it done at N/C. I know it's not what you want to hear, but that's what's happening to alot of people! Hope this helps

No audio sound from HDMI connection from TV to Onkyo 606 amp.

you have the output of the receiver going to the input of the TV?

i believe that you should be running the TV output to the receiver input to get your sound from the TV to the receiver and thus speakers.

the easiest setup is to just run your cable box and DVD player HDMI's into your TV inputs. then run another HDMI from the TV output to the receiver input.

Ps3 defaults to 576p when connected through onkyo 606 receiver

You have to tell the PS3 what the Okyo can do and it probably cannot do 1080P 60Hz (but can likely do 1080P 24Hz).  Try ticking more resolutions in the PS3s setup
