My printer is not printing and give error message like ''communication error''. Is it because the cable is too long? I am using 10 ft now

  • oleleho Sep 14, 2009

It's still not working although I have uninstalled and reinstalled it. I even tried using LPT connection i/o USB.

When I installed it there was a warning saying it won't work properly. Could it be because of my Window XP compatibility?

But if it is the case how could I had no problem when installing my Xerox XE80?

Cable length has nothing to do with it. It may even be on the computer side as corrupt driver installation etc. Make sure the cable connections are correct. uninstall the device from the device manager and reinstall.

That's one of the problems I even have in my own home, one printer will load fins and another 2 feet away will not. This may come down to being a hardware failure within the printer itself. Do you have another pc, like a laptop that you can load the software on to see if another device can take over operations of the printer?

900.80 rip error

Step 1: Turn off the printer for 30 seconds or longer to clear its memory
Do not power the printer off and on too quickly. Doing so can cause a power issue and
create this type of issue.

Step 2: While the MFP is off, clear any pending print jobs from the computer or the network queue.
This will prevent any corrupted print jobs from being re-sent to the MFP when it is powered
back on.

Step 3: Did the error message return?

Yes: If the 900.80 error returns when the printer is powered up or when you try to print again,
continue with Step 4 or go to Contacting Lexmark.
No: If the 900.80 error does not appear on the printer screen, use the printer operator panel to
print a menu settings page. If the error does not return, continue using the printer.

Step 4: Power the MFP off and disconnect all communication cables (i.e., the parallel, Ethernet,
and USB cables). The only cable that should be connected to the printer at this time is the
power cord. There might be a problem with either the printer, a communication cable, or the
print job itself. If possible, connect the printer's power cord directly into a grounded wall
outlet.

Step 5: Power on the MFP again.
Did the error message return?

Yes: A service call may be required. Please contact Lexmark Technical Support or a

local authorized service center in your area for additional assistance.

Replace scanner control card (SCC) first, if no fix replace FB CCD Asm

Parts number
40X2194 - SCANNER CONTROL CARD
40X2193 - FLATBED CCD ASM

No: If the 900.80 error does not appear on the printer screen, use the printer operator panel

to print a menu settings page. If the error does not return, continue using the printer.

Command error on epson 9600

Are you sure it is a 'command error' and not a 'communication error'. I could not find anything on a 'command error' but did find this on a 'communication error'.

Q: Why am I getting a communication error when I try to print?

A: Check the following if you are getting a communication error when printing:

Make sure the type of driver you installed matches the ink type in the printer. Verify the ink type by checking the part number on the ink cartridges.

Make sure the printer interface setting matches the connection type you're using. By default, the printer interface should be set to Auto, which supports all connection types.

Check the physical cable connection and make sure the cable is not be longer than 10 ft. You may want to replace the cable.

You may also get communication errors if the printer name is not set correctly. Contact EPSON at (888) 377-6611 or (562) 276-1305 to get instructions on how to verify this.

You might want to check to see if you have the current drivers for your printer and operating system; a new driver can be downloaded here.

Trust this is helpful.

Keep getting the error message "Printer not responding".

How are you connecting the printer to the computer? (USB, parallel, ethernet) Make sure there are no error messages/lights blinking and that the unit is on.

If you are using an USB cable, try a new cable. Also try a direct connection if you have a USB hub or print server in use. Make sure the USB ports are active (not disabled for power saving or security). Test the port with a known working device.

If you are using the parallel cable, make sure it is properly secured. Also try a new cable. Again try a direct connection instead of a print server.

If you are using an ethernet connection, again try a new cable. Check if your firewall is blocking communication with the printer. (Test this by temporarily turning off the firewall. If it starts working, make the printer a trusted part of the network. With some firewalls, you may need to unblock communication for both incoming and outgoing communication with the printer.)

    I hope this helps.

    CLP-510 SPL-C Error message

SPL stands for "Samsung Printer Language". You are using an USB cable that is either too long (above 6 ft.) or too thin (cheap cables).

The reason why the test page prints is because it is a very simple and small page (thinking on kbyte terms). But larger streams of data do not arrive correctly due to attenuation and the error page prints instead.

If it is absolutely necessary to connect beyong 6 ft, you need either a good quality USB cable (try the Belkin brand found at OfficeMax), or connect using a parallel cable.
