I need to reset the temp in the fridge? What is the procedure? Kris Thanks

I have tried that.I am wondering, if there is a specific way to lower the temp. aka, hold the temp button for several seconds, or perhaps there is a code, procedeure other than just punching the button down to the temp i want. aka a way of initiating the change to hold?

I set it to 34 or 35 and it still stays at 40 and sometimes more? Sometimes in the morning when the door has not been opened for many hours, the temp may be 39.

I don't understand why a colder temp would be a higher number? I thought the number represented the temperature.. as in the minus five for the freezer is what it is.

Just bought used whirlpool model #ed5jhexts00 and the fridge part is staying room temp and only bottom portion of freezer is working. Is there a reset button or do i have a major problem?

Its defrost problem.Either the refrigerator needs to be manually defrosted and checked. But if problem repeats then defrost assembly parts needs to be checked.---------

The manual defrost reset procedure. The procedure is as follows: ----

First unplug the unit from main power outlet. Then empty whole unit completely. Then keep both the doors open. Wait for 24 hours. All the ice collected on the coils and in the freezer section will get melted. Clean the water from the sections. Then Connect the power cord of the unit to main power outlet after 24 hours/.Then set the temperature to normal in both fridge and freezer section. It will take near to 4 hours to get run in its proper cooling cycle. Then check, if the problem returns again. Then its defrost board problem. -------------

It's starting the cooling procedure, and then while defrosting, it's not working. The defrost assembly consists of three main parts. The defrost thermostat, the defrost heater and defrost board. Any of the one is not functioning. When thermostat sense the maximum cooling, it triggers the defrost heater to start heating and this defrosts the ice collected on the coils and the system works. Both thermostat and heater are controlled by defrost board. First the thermostat and defrost heater to be checked, if both check ok by meter and visually, then its defrost board causing the problem. You can get required parts from from online sites like: --- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site. --------- This parts are not very costly to get replaced.---------This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Ro@hotmail.comtemp fridg& frezer will chang 30 to 40 degrees if you open either door it will take a long time for for temp to drop

The compressor is the part which cools the refrigerator.---------- First i will explain the working procedure of your sanyo refrigerator.---------- In the refrigerator, there is a part called compressor, the compressor is the part which cools the freezer section, When the freezer reaches its cooling level the defrost cycle starts functioning. In this cycle the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air in the freezer section is passed to the fridge section and the fridge section gets cold.--------- So the freezer section cooling/ freezing is must.If freezer is not getting properly cooled or not getting cooled, then fridge section will show the low or no cooling problem.--------------
In your refrigerator, its quite possible that compressor is got weak, nor complete faulty but little bit weak.So when you open and close the fridge or freezer door , the compressor is not that strong to maintain the required temperature. So its working hard to cool inside temperature, but its not doing it quickly as it should.---------.---------- In the compressor there is a refrigerant called FREON.With the help of this Freon the compressor cools the freezer section.Freon is a gaseous type cooling agent. The compressor will stop cooling when coolant gets leaked from its chamber.--------- Again recharging the Freon is possible, but the cost for that recharging is approx the cost of new compressor. So its always advisable to get compressor replaced.Because new compressor has warranty for few years.------------------ You can get required parts from from online sites like: --- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site. --------- ----------------
There is manual reset procedure, sometimes the ice gets frosted all over and blocks the ventilation's for cool air to pass from one section to another, and this also causes problem. So directly going for compressor inspection, before that you can try manual reset procedure and see if that helps.---------

The manual reset procedure is as follows : ----
First unplug the unit from main power outlet. It will take approx 4 to 6 hours for your refrigerator to regain its regular cooling/ freezing .So after 4 to 6 hours check , Is the refrigerator cooling properly or is it taking time or temp is dropping once you open close door. If this problems are not noticed, then reset procedure has helped.------- But if same problem is noticed after reset procedure is followed, then you can get the compressor checked. -------- This should help. Thanks.Helpmech.

The fridge has been unplugged for about 6 months due to renovations. When plugged in only the freezer works. The fridge section will not kick in. Is there a reset button? Thanks Cindy

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

Fridge temp will not drop to set temp

if you have had a sudden power failure or power spike, you may need to reset the fridge. This can be done by holding down the power freeze button and the fridge temp button together for about 5 seconds. The fridge display will go blank. press the buttons together again, the fridge display should return and both fridge and freezer should be reset

Fridge exposed to cold temps.

No there is no reset button. It could be the internal fan has gone bad or the compressor is shot. Unless you have bumped any lines and caused a freon leak.
