Re: cd burner

Try another brand, I used a Sony CDR, if another disc not function, your driver has damage, and you need to buy another one.

Burning computer files on a DVD can be a great way to backup your information.
Most one-sided writeable and rewritable DVD discs can store nearly five gigabytes of information, while two-sided writeable and rewriteable DVD discs can hold over eight gigabytes.

There are many programs available for purchase that you can use to burn a DVD.
For the sake of this tutorial, we will be using one of the most popular CD and DVD burning utilities Nero Burning ROM.

Read on to learn how to burn a DVD.
Insert your writeable or rewriteable DVD into your writeable DVD drive.

Click on your start menu and select "All Programs," "Nero" and "Nero StartSmart."
Locate the pull-down menu at the top of the window that shows "CD" displayed.

Click on the arrow to view the rest of the menu and select DVD.
Find the icons under the pull-down menu you just used.

Click on the "Data" icon. Then click on "Make Data DVD."
Click on the "Add" button when the Nero Express window opens.

Find the files on your hard drive that you would like to burn to the DVD and select them.
When you're done selecting files, click "Finished."

Select "Next" to get to the Final Burn Settings screen. If you can select the speed at which to write your disc, select the 8x option.

Click "Burn" and wait as your files are burned to the DVD. Click "OK" once the window pops up telling you the burn process was completed successfully.

Disc stuck in dvd drive. tries to spin. won't eject. (emachines desktop with xp home

There is a small pin hole below the tray. Straighten a paper clip and gently push it in this hole. The tray will unlock and pop out slightly, then pull the tray out and remove the DVD disc.

I am listening to a evangel preacher on the web, i would like to download the sermons to a cd, how would i do this?

This is being streamed to your computer. I would check the site to see if they have the sermons available for download. If not, you can record them realtime. This means you will need to actually have the whole sermon play on your computer to save it, and you will need some software to record the stream. Fortunately for you, there is an excellent free program that does this called audacity. You can download it here:

It's available for Windows, Mac and Linux.

Just install the program, push the big red record button, then save the sermon as a wav file, import it into windows media player, or iTunes, or whatever media player came with your linux distribution, and burn to cd.

Forgot password

If it is the Windows password you are talking about try this:

You have to reset or crack the password with a socalled Live CD.. A kind of system/program running from a cd outside Windows..

Youcan try and download this, burn it to a cd and leave the cd in thecomputer and restart (You can use the program ImgBurn to burn it as aimage):

When you have downloaded it:
1. Load ImgBurn.
2. Switch to 'Write' mode.
3. Insert Disc in Burner.
4. Select Image to burn.
5. Click 'Write' button.
6. Restart computer with cd in it..

My cd rom drive on my emachines wont burn any audio cds but it plays audio cds. when i go to burn a cd it says connect a burner. but my burner is built in to the drive that plays the cds

Could be a missing driver file. Or the plug between the 2 could be undone internally. Or the "Properties" settings could be unchecked.

I had this same problem w/ mine. Took me 4 months to figure it out. Got it working again but couldnt play audio cds, only dvds.

Go under control panel to hardware & find out exactly the name of the maker of the drive. It should be in there.
Search that maker ie ~ Philips CD Rom with Sonic DLA burning software.

I got pretty lucky finding info specifically for EMachine. It's a generic computer so shouldnt have any problem finding info about the drive & the software. Perhaps even look for Updates. This could help also.

My cd is well ....i have no idea

Sounds like a tough problem to have because half of the CD drive is working fine (the reading part) but half isn't (the writing/burning part).

Here are a few suggestions:

1) try a different CD writing program, if the Wizard says the CD-Rs are full, try a version of Nero or a freeware burning program.

2) if, when you load the blank CD, Windows says that it's unable to burn it, it might not be a CD that your burner can recognize. If you are using different or new CDs, try another one or borrow someone else's blank CD. I've had it happen where a set of CDs that I bought were bad and couldn't be used. Also, some cheap CDs don't work on some CD burners.

3) It might be a bad CD drive. If it's an older computer, you might have to get a new CD drive. Before doing this, I'd try reinstalling the software and drivers for your CD burner and try both the suggestions from above. Good luck
