Try this instead. Download a program called PowerISo. This will allow you to make a .iso file. this is a disk image and will work on virtually any media u want. you can DL here

this can also happen when you are running low on RAM.

I want to know how to make copies of DVDs and audio CDs using acer aspire 5742 laptop

Download and install Nero Burning Rom program, open it, set in the up window the option CD/DVD, get to preferite, copy CD or copy DVD option, depends by what you need, set the speed 4x for DVD or 8x for CD for have a good copy quality, insert the original disk, it will copy it, then insert the new disk to burn.

About 5 years ago I transfered some vhs tapes to dvd using a go video vr 3840. I did not finalize the dvd's. I need to buy another vr 3840 to finalize the dvd's. Where can I find one to buy?

You should not need another '3840 to finalize the disks. Finalization just ends the index, makes writing back to the disk near impossible. You should be able to finalize / close the disk using a dvd authoring program (Nero, CD BurnerXP, etc).

The catch may be that the disks that you created are formatted as DVD video, closing a video disk may not be the same.

Another possibility is to use an authoring program (like the above) to copy your un-finalized disks to fresh media, and specify the disks to be finalized (or closed) when completed. I would try this first, the only thing to lose is time, and a disk. Oh, and about 4.7GB of hard disk space to create the image if you only have 1 DVD drive.

I am trying to make my startup disks but each timetime I try with recovery manager it says I dont have a cd/dvd writer yet my writer shows up in the device manager can anyone help.

Are you sure its a Dvd writer and not a Dvd-Rom with cd write capability? Cd write wont cut it for restore disks as restore disks can take several gigabytes of space especially if created by the Manufacturers program which would install crapware, trialware and other things not necessarily needed. You could create your own if that program does not work for you. If your hell bent on using it then navigate to the compaq support web site and open a case and a rep will help you with your issues. Good Luck!

I need help finding drivers for my Intel 865gv P4

Which website are you getting your drivers from? Gigabyte has the drivers for that chipset. Are you using a DVD copy program to bring your files to the disk? Do you have enough Disk Space to copy them on to your Hard Disk in a folder you create? This is sometimes the best way to retrieve your files and put them on a DVD.

My disk drive is not working i am trying to down load a new program and when i put the disk in it will read it and then error appears

Hi saratrought, if Windows XP runs and you have read problems in CD/DVD drive try to read another disk, if any other disk work fine then you need to copy your CD/DVD info (or program) in another new disk.

Or just use Windows Explorer to try copy all data from CD/DVD disk to a New Folder in your Hard Drive and then from that location you can try to install your program, if your data don´t copy well then again i tell you that it´s your disk not your CD/DVD drive.

Sorry by bad english.

Not enough space

You need on your hard drive at least twice the size of the files youre copying (Example: a single layer DVD holds 4.3 to 4.5 GB of data, you need at least 10 GB free space to copy this disk). Not only do you need free space for the copy, you have a temp file thats just as big thats created while the disk is being copied. Check your free space before attempting the copy process. If youre trying to copy DVD movies, these disks are protected and cannot be straight copied through your burning software. We dont condone piracy here so google DVDShrink and DVDFabDecryptor, and how to use them. Good luck.

Laptop CD/DVD Drive

In order to copy files to a CD like a hard drive you need a program that can treat the CD like a hard drive. Sometimes called *drag and drop or drag to disk*, is this what you?re using and if so what program are you using?
