Question about Samsung HLP4663W 46" Rear Projection HDTV

Broken Wire While replacing the color wheel, I destroyed a 5-Pin wire connecting from the DMD Board to the Balast Assembly. Does anybody know where I can get a replacement wire, or at least offer some kind of advice as too what the proper name for this wire would be, or a part number if there is one. Thanks in advance.

Re: Broken Wire

I'm having a similar dilema with my color wheel wire that broke off in the dmd board when I opened the light engine to check it. Other than buying a whole new color wheel it occoured to me that an authorized repair center locally would probably have tons of them laying around and possibly one of your wires...........

After 10 sec. after start up the tv starts to make a large growling sound for about 5 secs. then repeats every 15 sec. sounds like if might be a fan. How many fans in this t.v. . Took the back cover off...

That growling sound is most likely a your color wheel. Often, a color segment breaks free and causes the wheel to become unbalanced. I would suggest searching for a tutorial or "How-To" on replacing it. Basically, you need to disconnect (about 4 connections) and remove the Light Engine (2 screws). Then pull the cover off the color wheel housing (to the left of the lamp, 2 screws). Disconnect and remove the color wheel (2 screws and 2 connectors). You will need to use a vac the glass out from the lost color segment(s). Here's a tip for reassembly: color wheel 4-wire ribbon.. copper on the connector should face you. Also, the lamp door switch must be tripped or the TV will not fire up. I hope this was helpful.

Check Fan No. 2 Error Message

The DMD board you installed is bad. It senses the detection line from the fan and generates the error code. Try installing the old DMD board.

Just changed color wheel on my samsung dlp now it wont power on

First, the color wheel's 4 pin, copper connector which plugs into the DMD pcb should have the copper facing you as you look into the rear of the TV. Second, be sure you trip the lamp door switch in a closed position. Usually, you can just wrap the wht/blu wire around it, so the TV thinks the lamp door is closed. Try these and listen for the color wheel to spin up. If it does not, the lamp will NOT light. It's built that way. You may have a bad color wheel... which I have personally experienced in the past.

Color wheel plugs into what?

Okay what you can do is first make sure that you haven't lifted any foil paths on the circuit board. To do this work you will have to remove the dmd board. There are tension springs that have to be taken off to be used for screen centering when reinstalling. Use caution when handling dmd. remove sheild and make sure no small copper foils pulled up from the board. Now if the three wires that are used in the 4-pin plug connector are next to each other then you can use the 3-pin plug connector to reinstall them. Just make sure that they connect to the same place as they were removed from. And in the same order. Also, if you look closely you can see how the wires can be removed from one plug connector and installed in the other without cutting anything. Good luck with this, but you can do it if you have patience, Russmann.

Can someone please tell me the DMD part # for a HLR6167WX/XAP?

When you replace the color wheel on certain models you must remove a jumper plug on the DMD board. There is a service bulletin that is usually included with factory replacement color wheels. If the color wheel has a whine to it that means it is probably used and came out of someone else's set. Anyhow the plug can be accessed as I recall without removing the shield of the DMD board. I know this because my first one of those gave me grief, too. Samsung changed wheels on different versions of the same model tv so it gets confusing. You should be ok though after adding/removing the two pin plastic jumper from the DMD board. The only other thing I saw cause a green picture eas the plug that goes from the DMD to the digital board can develop bad connections and can be replaced with a regular DVI type cable. Hope this helps, Russmann.

Tv work come on , all 3 lights blinking

All 3 leds blinking is a Lamp error. Pull the lamp and see if it is blown. If so, replace. This error can also be caused by many parts of the optical block = colorwheel, balast, or DMD board. If you hear a buzz sound when it tries to fire lamp then the lamp is bad. If not listen for the spinning high pitched squeel of the colorwheel coming up. If you hear this but no buzz from the ballast, you likely have a bad ballast. If you do not hear the color wheel, you have a bad color wheel or DMD board.

Mixed colors

Color wheels in that unit were updated to remedy a flaw in their initial manufacturing. I suspect you have one of the updated wheels and now the dmd board is having a problem distinquishing relative speed etc. Pull dmd jumper to fix it. Remove the jumper pin on the dmd board, metal shield has a cut-out so you can just reach in and grab it with a pair of needle nose pliers and pull it out.

About the DLP TV you helped with.

Brandon. Locate CN110 on the DMD its a wire plug. Pin 2 is gorund pin 4 is voltage for the color wheel. When the color wheel is off pin 4 should have 5V on it when power is pressed it should have 7v for the color wheel to start. If the voltages on pin 4 is 5V your DM is ok and Color wheel would be indicated as faulty, But if pin 4 is anything less than 5V its the DM which is faulty.

Samsung hl-r4266w bottom black line

Your DMD board is now misaligned. It can happen when you changed the color wheel. All you have to do is pull up on your DMD board. I would use both hands, one on each corner of the DMD board and just a little at a time until you get it the way you want it. If you have a space at the top, then just push the DMD board down the same way.
