My kenmore clothes washer won't empty water

My kenmore clothes washer filled with water and can aggitate, but it will not drain. I have had no problems with this machine in the past.. it stopped, and I thought the wash was done, but when I opened it up, it was full of water. it will aggitate, but stops cold when it's supposed to drain. can a pump go out that fast? There was no warning.. is there a reset on the pump?

The model number is 13202200... it is a top loading washer. I checked the lit switch, and it does not "click" when I push it down with a pencil. How do you open the to of the machine so I can get a better look at the switch? Can I bypass the switch to get it going and then buy a new switch to put in?

Sounds like the lid switch is bad . Without model number , cannot "see" which switch or where it's located , to help you more . You can try putting an object in the hole with the lid up , to try to get it to drain .

Some models reverse the moter to activate the pump .. some have a solonoid to engage the pump .. depends on what model you have ... if the motor runs but still it doesnt pump then look for a broken belt that drives the pump .. on some there is a little universal joint that sometimes breaks .. often the pump becomes clogged with coins and other debree .. you didnt say if the spin cycle started or not .. if it doesnt then you could have a bad door switch .. if that doesnt operate then the spin cycle wont start and it wont drain as well .. you can test for clogs by taking the drain hose out and placing it on the floor .. if a lot of water comes out then its not clogged .. if no water comes out then you have a clog .. (be prepaired for lots of water) .. even if water comes out there still could be a coin stoping rotation of the pump .. there is no reset on the pump, it is almost always run by the main motor ..

Kenmore won't fill with water

Make sure your water valves are turned on. Check for blockages in the rubber hose and especially where the water enters the washer. Sometimes the chack valve of a washer can collase and restrict the flow of water entering the washer. It is usually located just beyond where the hose connects to the washer. Metal screens can clog and stop water flow. Check and replace as necessary.

The electronics of the washer may also not be advancing to the point where it allows water to enter, The main dial may be faulty. Check and verify all washer settings also

Remove the front panel of the washer by using a putty knife to release the retaining clips, located in the seam between the front panel and the washer's top, about 2 inches in from each side. With an empty wash tub, remove the small hose on the left side of the outer tub and clean out the inside of the hose. Replace the hose. Test.

The transmission in this machine is worn and is not shifting correctly. Understand that after the aggitate cycle, this machine should go into drain cycle without spinning and it should drain for about 1 minute. Then it should kick into spin cycle after it has emptied all the water. What is happening is it is (like skipping) the drain cycle and going directly into spin with water still in it,,, so the spin is slow as it is trying to empty and spin at the same time,,, thus the clothes do not spin out correctly,,, when you reset the spin, you actually spin all the water out the second time around.

Water fills the tub then nothing happens.

it does not aggitate? Thats the cycle that allows the water to wash the clothes. It may be broken, I have had that happen a couple times. I would take the aggitator off and see if the teeth in the groves are worn out, It happen's when used alot. Commen problem and easy to replace.

Series 70 washer will not aggitate, spin or drain

Even "empty" - there is still water in the tub to keep the seals moist.

Let it thaw completely - or put some hot water in the tub to thaw.

You may already have damaged the coupling/drive belt if it was frozen.

First thing is to remove the 2 screws from the console, they may be hidden in the front or bacl of console. After removing screws, lightly push the base of the console towards the front of the washer and pick up. This will expose your lid switch connection. Using a jumper wire, jump out the black and white wires then try advancing your washer into spin/drain. The culprit will usually be the lid switch assy.
