In order for the microwave to work, there is switch which must close when the door closes in order to work. If the switch is open, or the door does not operate the switch for some reason, the microwave will not turn on. This is protection for you from the waveguide which is a Klystron which operates at Radio (RF) Frequencies...cooks!
I would suspect the microswitch to be faulty. Cheap repair.

More than likely its your door interlock switches. Try pushing in, up or down and see if it works. If it does it's your switches

I have have a 10 year old Kenmore Hood/Microwave combo built by Whirpool. I'm getting an F6 error code. What is the error code trying to tell me?

F6 —Microwave Relay Failure: Check the microwave relay.

The F6 error code which is flashing on your microwave refers to a faulty relay. However, I would suggest that you first try to run a diagnostic (which you may not be able to, but it is beneficial if it works). Here is how:

The microwave oven may be provided with a self diagnostic routine that can be operated through the touch pad keyboard. To enter the self-diagnostic routine:
1.While pressing the CANCEL keypad:
a) Open the oven door.
b) Unplug the microwave oven for 2-seconds and plug it back in.
c) Release the CANCEL keypad and close the oven door.

NOTE: The humidity sensor test results will appear on the display after 8-seconds.If the tests are successful, "OK " will be displayed. If one or more of the tests fail, "ERR " will be displayed.. 2.When a keypad is pressed, a number according to the test chart will be displayed. When no keypad is pressed, a blank "—" is displayed.
If you want to try to fix it your self, Always remember Electricity is dangerous and should be treated with respect.
Microwaves are very dangerous, they can still shock you even unplugged!!
Use a metal ( not the shiny chrome type ) screw driver with a insulated handle to short across ( touch both at the same time ) the terminals of the high voltage capacitor to discharge it. With the microwave unplugged.

Hope that helps.........

Microwave went dead as soon as I started heating. Replaced its fuse:58001220

The klystron or the hi voltage transformer are faulty. The klystron is the part that generates the microwaves. The transformer supplies the voltage to operate the klystron.

Microwave error message F7

This is for whirlpool models.Try this procedure and see if it helps.what is your model?
Models: GH9177XL GH5176XP GH5184XP GH6178XP GH6177XP
KHHS178L KHHS179L

Microwave will not operate (cook). F7 error code
appears on the display.

Electrical circuit interruption between L1 and Neutral in
the microwave inverter circuit.

Possible reasons:
1. Check door, hinge and cavity front alignment and adjust
as needed.
2. Check the operation of all interlock switches.
3. Check over temperature protector for the magnatron.
4. Check all Cavity Thermostats for closed circuit.
5. Unplug the oven for at least 40 seconds. If this solves
the problem
A. Check the Cooling Fan for proper operation or
blockage
B. Check the resistance of the magnetron thermostat.
It should be 0 Ohms, replace if necessary.
6. Check that the control cable to the 1100 watt inverter
is properly connected to plug P2 on the display PCB
& Adjust or Reconnect
7. If interlock switches operate correctly, replace 1100W
inverter.
8. If problem persists, replace control assembly.

My display shows F7 how do remove it. and what does it mean?

Is it a Whirlpool? If so, this is a generic "will not operate" code, and the microwave will not turn on. A couple of things to try: 1. Check to make sure the door is properly aligned on the microwave. Adjust as needed. 2. If you have a removable exhaust panel (probably on top) remove this along with the filter underneath and reinstall.
When everything is back together, try the microwave again.

Microwave wont run, displays E 10 on the screen and also microwave fault, press stop to acknowledge, just changed the door.

e 10 is the internal safety fuse has blown this often happens if door is altered for any reason moving the door can effect the setting of the monitor switches these are set to a high tolerance to avoid operation of microwave with door open changing the door has shifted these settings and blown the fuse, replacing the fuse may be enough to get it going but it should be checked for leakage.

MICROWAVE WILL NOT HEAT. F9 APPEARS IN THE DISPLAY WINDOW

F9 indicates a problem with the door latch.  There is a safety switch that will not allow the microwave to operate if it detects the door is not closed properly.  Even though physically it may seem the door is shut, the safety switch is not relaying the message to the onboard computer.  You need another door latch switch.

Door latch and Screen

This is because of the broken latch. There are switches inside the oven that are operated by the door latches to make sure you're not trying to use the oven with the door open. With the new door, your oven should be back to normal.

Microwave

Prototech@usa.com has links all over the internet advertising a simple fix for microwave displays. I ordered one and they never sent it. Had to file a claim with Paypal. No communication until I threatened them, then they said it's on its way. I waited another week and it sitll didn't come. After six weeks of trying to get my money back, I finally got a refund. Now I have to start all over. Any suggestions for replacing a display BESIDES this sham operation?
