Try replugging the printer into the computer - do you hear a sound indicating it's being connected? Try a different port on your computer as well. Also try powering off both the printer and pc and trying again - if it still doesn't work, click on start, go to printers/faxes, and make sure your printer is showing up in the list - if not, then click on add printer, and go through the add printer wizard to readd the printer to the computer. Hope this helps! Good luck!

My office jet G85 won't print. No error messages appear,it has a new color cartridge,it copies, but won't print from my computer.

If it copies ok, then the issue is either the way it is cabled to computer or the print driver software settings on pc.... How is it connected via USB? Check port and correct driver is in windows/control panel/printers. Reinstall.

Not printing from a mac

Use one of the following methods to print, depending on how the printer is connected to the computer. hpweb_1-2_minus.gif Method one: Printing from a USB printer
  1. Make sure your printer is turned on and connected.
  2. Open a document to print, and then choose File > Print .
NOTE: You can also go directly to System Preferences > Print & Fax .
  3. From the Printer pop-up menu, choose your printer. If you do not see your printer listed, choose Add Printer , and then click More Printers .
  4. In the Name column, select your printer, and then click Add .
hpweb_1-2_minus.gif Method two: Printing from a network printer You can connect to HP printers on your local network (wireless and Ethernet) using Bonjour or IP, as well as shared printers connected to an Apple Airport base station.
NOTE: Apple does not support AppleTalk in Mac OS X 10.6.
  1. Choose File > Print .
  2. From the Printer pop-up menu, choose your printer. A dialog appears, listing any Bonjour printers on your local network. It may take a minute or two for your printer to appear.
NOTE: Your printer may also be listed in the Nearby Printers submenu.
  3. If your printer does not appear, choose Add Printer from the Printer pop-up menu. Printers that are turned on and connected to the local network (wireless and Ethernet) should appear as Bonjour devices.
  4. Select your device from the list, and then click Add to create the HP printer queue for your HP Photosmart, Officejet, or Deskjet All-in-One printer.
Your computer can usually detect whether a printer has special accessories installed, such as additional paper trays or a duplex unit. If it cannot, a dialog appears that lets you specify them. To enable full functionality, make sure the settings in that dialog accurately reflect the installed options.
The latest HP Utility is included in Mac OS X 10.6.
Method one: Open the HP Utility from System Preferences
  1. Make sure your printer is turned on and connected.
  2. From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences .
  3. Click Print & Fax .
  4. In the list of printers on the left side of the dialog, select the HP All-in-One to view the options in the Print & Fax window.
  5. Click Options and Supplies .
  6. Click the Utility tab at the top of the window, and then click Open Printer Utility . The HP Utility opens. Features and options may vary depending on your printer model.
Method two: Alternative The HP Utility can also be launched from the printer icon in the dock to open the Printer Browser window.
  1. Double-click the printer icon. The Printer Browser window opens.
  2. Click Printer Setup in the toolbar.
  3. Click the Utility tab.
  4. Click Open Printer Utility . The HP Utility opens. Features and options may vary depending on your printer model.

Computer appears to communicating with the printer but will not print. Jobs are in que but will not print.

Thermal printers can have a warm up stage, though it rarely exceeds a minute or so,
Check all cables and connections, if the problem persists, try uninstalling and then re installing the printer driver,
Hope this helps.

You diagnosed a bad connection with the computer. Try changing the connection cord, borrow one if you can, just to test it. What does "leads appear fine mean?" Best Wishes.
