Can´t set outgoing mail for my company´s email from my iPhone

I receive mail but can´t get it to send. I tried with the server that at&t has for that purpose but didn´t work. I tried my yahoo! server and didn´t work either.

Call 1800myiphone for further assistance. They troubleshoot all iphone issues. I work for AT&T and we refer all issues with the iphone to Apple customer care.

There is not an SMTP outgoing server called ''. Try removing 'apple' from the beginning of the SMTP outgoing server name in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Yahoo Email Address > Click on email address. If that does help, re-add your Yahoo email to your iPhone and test the account again.

I can receive emails but other people cannot receive emails from my phone

Setting up an Email account on a Computer or iPhone is divided into 2 parts. The incoming mail server (POP) & the Outgoing (SMTP) server. You need to fill in these details correctly.
Send an Email to yourself to test this out.
That way it's quicker to test and you avoid annoying your friends while getting this Problem sorted out.
Your problem seems to be that the mail is not Sending correctly.
Which means that the details you are entering in the "Outgoing" boxes is incorrect.
Now, I've had this same problem on my iPhone on several occasions. The problem can be that you are using your own ISP details as you would on a fixed location computer but your outgoing email goes to your mobile carrier first. For example....
My email settings from the computer might be .au
Most of the time this works on the iPhone as well but, when I'm out in the country away from home it sometimes gets stuck in the "send" box. (It doesn't get sent)
So I open up my email settings in Settings / Mail,Contacts, Calendars. & Choose the Account Name I am using to send email.
Then look at the OUTGOING Mail Server / SMTP
and I see the PRIMARY server which is "" in my case. Underneath is another heading called.
in here I enter the mail server that the mobile phone company uses... (my mobile carrier's email setting)
Enter details & turn this setting ON and if the first PRIMARY server can't be contacted then the secondary one can.
Some email accounts don't like SSL turned on.
I have SSL off & no user name or password in my settings, yours may be different depending on country & carrier, (I'm in Australia)
(Check your ISP's Email Setup requirements on their web site to get their preferred settings. Same for Mobile Phone Carrier.)
Sending via the Mobile carrier (who uses different settings) is what causes the problem. So...... by putting in this alternate route, it often solves the problem.
Now... it pays to note that sometimes these settings get so screwed up that just putting in the alternate settings fails to kick in. So...
I have found that, Deleting the Email account settings completely, does the trick....
Simply "Delete Email Account" and then re enter the full details again. (This has also worked on the computer as well)
Be sure to write down the old settings first or on the iPhone, press the top button and the bottom "thumb" button at the same time, will take a snapshot of the screen image and store it in the "Photos" App which allows you to refer to the settings later.

I have a verizon email account. I set it up on my iphone, and it receives mail, but will not send. I get an error that says: "the connection to the outgoing server '' failed." Please...

If iPhone is unable to send mail, try these basic troubleshooting steps.
1) Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars and under Accounts, tap the account from which you're trying to send mail.
2) Scroll down to where it says Outgoing Mail Server and tap the box where it says SMTP.
3) Scroll down to where it says AT&T SMTP Server, and tap it turn it on, or Turn on all other SMTP Servers.

Can received & read but cannot send yahoo mail from iphone

First step is try reseting the network settings. You can do this by going to settings/general/reset and reset network settings.
This will drop you off the network and reset your phone. Bringing your phone back up with current network settings.
Try sending mail. If this doesn't work, try changing your outgoing mail server.
Go into settings/mail, contacts, and calendars/(your yahoo account)/Outgoing mail server.
This will bring you to a list of mail servers, your primary server being the yahoo server with the AT&T smtp server under other.
Click on your primary yahoo server and switch this server to off. click the blue smtp arrow on the very top left. This will bring you back to the server list. go to the AT&T smtp server and turn this server on.
Go ahead and exit out either by the arrow or the home button.
Access your yahoo account see if you can send mail.

Setting Outgoing Server on iPhone
1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
2. On the Settings screen, tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
3. On the Mail screen, under Accounts, tap your Roadrunner account.
4. Tap Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP).
5. Tap Primary Server (might say, or some other rr server)
Host Name
Change Host Name to
User Name
Leave blank
Leave blank

Make sure SSL is off
Should say Password
Server Port
Should say 25, if not change to 25

As an alternate if the above does not work: After tapping Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), look for AT&T SMTP Server, tap it, then turn Server to ON

Take a look at your SMTP mail settings. Settings --> Mail --> Accounts. Make sure that you have the proper outgoing (SMTP) server listed for that particular account.

Sending e-mail on iPhone

I think I found the solution for those of you who are on roadrunner service. I researched online for several hours and came up with this solution - it works for me - receiving and sending all mail:
Go to Settings disable wi-fi instead of the pie on the top you will see the blue E Go to Settings - general - reset - click on reset networks Once your network is reset, click on Settings - Mail - add account - plus in your name, address, and e-mail account name Scroll to incoming mail server: type in user name (that's the first part of your e-mail addresss before the your password (the one you used setting up your account with roadrunner) scroll down to outgoing mail server host name: click on Advanced - make sure that use ssl is off on both incoming and outgoing. Your server port should show as 587 when all done, click on the top left arrow which should show your e-mail address exit the mail system, the click on the icon from the main menu and it should work Good luck!
