GE front loader door switch wiring issue

I have a ge wsxh208V1ww. the solenoid died in the door switch. Can't seem to hack a new solenoid into it. Got a "new" electrolux part # 131769245.

Fits the hole but has more wire options 8 vs 6 anyone know where the wires go or do I have the wrong part?

    Guest,
I ended up putting in the revised door latch that set me back about $55. It has been fine. I made extensions for the wires as they are deep under the face and i didn't want to unstack the set. If you do this ie crimp one foot long wires with male and female spade connecors, be sure to insulate the ends that are floating around loose in the face with tape or shrink tube to avoid arcing or issues. This was an electrolux part with cryptic schemata on the part as to where the wires are connected. the old 2 wire plug does not connect where the new 2 wire plug is located.

Some possible fixes are availble for the solenoid. First make sure it has continuity. If its open there's no hope. if not it may be that the windings are shorted (also no hope) or that plunger is stuck from the coil swelling or some crud had gotten into it. take it apart and clear the center just enough so the plunger can move. I couldn't find just the solenoid on a like machine in my area, you may have better luck. I did try carving down a solinoid coil from a water valve. got it into the latch but it didn't have the chops to pull the latch closed and it made lots of noise. Good luck

Although there aren't any parts available for them these units ARE repairable. There are places along the sides of the case to unsnap the halves. Just be careful not to unload the spring inside

GE front load washer WSXH208v1ww door latch

Unfortunately, the "door latch assembly" is what you would need. It comes with a new concrete front tub counter weight which is redesigned to not be able to contact the door latch switch on out of balance spins. It is also a lot of work to replace. (you can not get just the little plastic part) Please don't rate this solution, as anything but a Fix-Ya lowers my score, and I know you don't want to shoot the messenger.

GE Front Loader Washer - Not washing

It sound like a lid switch issue. If the lid switch is defective, your washer can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washer to get to the switch. Look that the switch is not broken or loose. If all is fine, you should replace the switch. Good luck!
