My Kenmore ice maker is making ice but it will not, or can not, dump the load. The tray will rotate pushing the cubes verticle and then stop.

    Thank you for this input.

The service sheet is too small to read. I printed it off, but can not enlarge it.

    GREAT INFO - THANKS.

Now I know why the repair guys/gals get the big bucks. After all the troubleshooting, and defrosting, I ordered a new ice maker. After 6 days of being "stuck" the ice marker started to work. Go figure!!

Thanks again - I printed off your info for the next go around.

Hi,

as you may have been explained the ice maker uses an evaporation system to release cubes.

The evap system consists of an heating coil , a small fan, and a temp sensor. when cubes are placed upside down, the heating coil will start warming up, melting the surface of the cubes and releasing them.

In your case the problem may have been caused by a bad connector or a wiring problem, since the icemaker restarted working on its own.

Please let us know if you need further help, and please do not forget to leave us feedback later.

Many thanks.

G.

You will need a new main gear. It is located behind the front cap of the ice maker. If it stops like your saying, the gear has a couple teeth missing from the main gear. If you will go to www.partselect.com and look at part # PS380968 This is the part you will need.

If you pull the front cap off the ice maker, you will see a large gear and a small one. The large gear is what I think you will find has a few teeth gone. You can use a screw driver, place it in the screw in the middle of the large gear. Turn clockwise, it will be hard and only turn it like you holding pressure on it to turn. It will then start turning by it's self. This is what is called cheating the ice maker. It makes it advance. This should cycle the ice maker. After it dumps, fills and refreezes for about 30 mins. Cheat it again to start harvest mode. See if it will stop in the same place again.

I meant to add. If you have a new model, it will not have this gear so that you can get to it. In this case, you will have to replace the module (Ice maker head)

Where you able to locate the main gear? If not, it should be one of the newer models that has a gray module when you remove the cover. If so, you will have to replace the module.

Kenmore 795.5102 will not make ice

The problem is the ice maker, the modular head of the ice maker has broken, hence the clicking sound and the raised arm stuck up. You will need to have an accurate model number and contact a local parts distributor for a new ice maker. It is a simple repair usually only 2-3 screws.

I have the samsung rs2577sl. the ice maker cube

Your model has the twist tray style icemaker. The part number for you front section that contains the motor assembly is DA97-00258E Ice Maker Assembly. You can try by taking it out and seeing if the tray will return to the home position but stopping there make me question if the thermal fuse in wiring harness may have blown. We may need to test that wire also to see if the thermal fuse is still good, I will leave you some of the links and ready to help when you need me, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Ice maker

The is a small heater in the boottom of your ice maker that is most likely not working. The heater comes on when the ice reaches a frozen state to allow the ice to melt just enough that the rotating arm can push the cubes out and into the tray.
Unfortunately, it will most likely cost more to have a technician fix the existing ice maker than it would to just have anew one installed.
I would opt for the new ice maker.

Ice maker cycling but getting stuck

Either you have a bad heating element (soften the ice to eject) or a stripped gear in Ice Maker either way it will have to be replaced by the time you buy the parts and install them you can just replace the ice maker as a unit
