Yamaha R-V98 Stereo Receiver

My Yamaha R-V98 stereo receiver won't stay turned on for more than a few minutes before it shuts off. There is a "Sleep Timer" function that doesn't seem to have any effect, no matter what I set it to or turn the function off.

My intermatic ej351c timer is not working properly. lights only stay on a few seconds - a few minutes before shutting off, even when button is pushed to override program. is there a battery that needs to...

Timer has non-replaceable capacitor battery for 15 minute carryover during power outage.
Timer can be affected by radio and TV receivers. Unplug those devices and check if function is restored.
Reset timer and program again.
If timer function is not restored after reset, then buy new timer.
Timer has 1-year limited warranty, and is rated for incandescent only, up to 150Watts.

My radio powers off every few minutes. Needs to be turned back on by the on-off switch. How can I stop it from turning off automaticly?

When you press the Power/Sleep button the radio turns on and displays a number 90, or some other numbers. This is the play time that the radio will stay on then turns itself off. It could be that yours is configured with a sleep timer set to 01 minute, 10 or 15. You need to set the timer for a longer period. Thus we turn it on by pressing the Power/Sleep button, read the timer length then press again. Keep making short presses: The timer will cycle through all preset sleep timer durations. Select the length you want.

T.V keeps shutting itself off

it may be due to overheating, ensure proper ventilation, clean the ventilation grill, may be the psu is not functioning properly and being over heated, if the tv starts normally after few mins then its the case of overheating.

Yamaha r-v98 turns on and immediately goes off. I haven't changed anything lately. It was playing then went off. Now it will not turn on for more than a few seconds.

Disconnect all speakers at the receiver then turn it back on, if it stays on, post a comment and I can help you troubleshoot further. If it still shuts off, it sufferred a power spike and needs to be serviced. They will replace 5-6 caps and 2 or three other parts, roughly 250 or so. Hope this helps

Tv shuts off automatically after beimg on for only a couple of minutes. sleep timer is disabled

Is the on time the same every incident? If you restart it, does it start right away and stay on the same amount of time?

If identical, sounds like the sleep function is not truly disabled. If you haven't tried turning the sleep function off and back on again, and unplugging the unit for a day and then plugging back in, and resetting to factory defaults (if that's on the menu), try them because those things might reset it.

If not identical, then I would suspect something thermal - heats up and shuts down. That would take a tech to solve (unless you set it in front of an air conditioner!).

Tv switches off after 5 mins

There might be three or more reasons for this:
1) The sleep timer may be on causing the TV to turn off after a preset time.
2) If sleep timer is on and no signal from the remote is received for a preset time (Samsung: 15 minutes) the tv will turn itself off.
3) The TV may have been turned on automaticaly with "On Timer". If so, and no signal is received for a preset time (Samsung: 3 hours) the tv will turn itself off.
4) A fan is not working or a vent is blocked causing the TV to overheat and turn off.
For 1) thru 3), go to the "setup" menu and make sure "sleep timer" and "On Timer" are turned off.
