SCPH-75001 model PS2, What Rock Band or Guitar Hero will work?
My husband was so excited to get the Rock Band drum set and Rock Band game for his birthday yesterday. Now he is just disappointed because the Rock Band game will not load or read in our Playstation 2 model SCPH-75001. The disc doesn't even spin, and just the PS2 setting/browser screen comes up. Before trying to exchange the game, I checked online and see others having the same problem due to "older PS2's not able to read double-layered discs".
So, my question is what Rock Band game and what newer Guitar Hero game (that you can play drums with) will work with my model of Playstation 2? I refuse to "pay for an upgraded PS2" & really can't afford to buy a "next gen" video console yet (and when I can, I will be getting a Wii because Sony has now pissed me off.) Thanks for advice!
Re: SCPH-75001 model PS2, What Rock Band or Guitar Hero...
Make shaw its not a ps3 game, not trying to be patronizing but ive had 3 people do that brought ps3 games and try to put them in ps2, its true sony are rip off merchants, my advise is not to get a wii ether go for a xbox 360, he will love you for ever. the download content alone you can get for rock band1/2 and guitar hero world tour is worth it

you need a wii remote for each instrument and the microphone. you need one remote for the drums, one for the bass guitar player, one for the guitar, and one in close proximity to the microphone user. you have to set a wii remote near the microphone once the microphone is plugged into the USB port in the back of the wii console. i think there is something like a 10 foot radius meaning if the wii remote is too far from the microphone it will disconnect. so you can do only one instrument per wii remote you are using.
Rock Band and Guitar Hero instruments are NOT compatible on the Wii.
They are compatible on the 360, the PS3, and the RB drums for PS2.
Activision went their own way with the Wii and made life difficult for
all of the aspiring musicians on the Wii. Sorry.

To all you guys having this problem with PS2 - I bought World Tour for my brother and put it in this morning. It worked the 1st time we put it on, but we restarted the game because both guitars weren't connected, and it would NOT work after that (we have an old fat PS2 by the way). After reading online, I found out this disc is a Dual Layered DVD, and can cause problems reading it
Here's what I did to fix it - I took out all 8 screws on the bottom of the PS2, popped the case off, and then took out the 2 tiny screws for the DVD drive. After taking that case off, you can see the laser lens. All I did was clean it with an alcohol-soaked Q-tip, then buffed it clean, and after turning the game back on - it works fine! We're so pumped over here, and to anyone else having the problem, I bet this will fix it! Good luck!
