If it is not a cable operated drain stopper, most have a knurled push pull knob on the top of the stopper. This knob should twist off to the left exposing a screw slot in the middle of the stopper. Using a flat blade screwdriver turning left until the stopper is free. If it is a cable opperated stopper, it is best to get a pro to replace it. If the cable is damaged and needs to be replaced, the tub will have to be pulled to do this job.

Another remedy if you can't find the same lugs or stoppers, is go to any hardware or home depot store and get those little plastic stoppers that are felt or adhesive back that is used for the bottom of kitchen chairs so as not to scratch harwood floors, you can use them fo substitute . Also they make small round 1/4 inch plastic little bumps used for home slider window stops. Hope this helps you get that toilet seat up and running , or is that down and running :) mike

Kohler bathtub drain seems to be disconnected from control lever. This is the type with the "in bathtub stopper" that raises up and down to let water flow out. The stopper does not move up and down as it...

Okay, remove 2 phillips head screws at lever handle/overflow.

Pull firmly with much effort and bowing the connecting rod a bit.

Up will come a heavy duty spring on the end of the rod.(prolly a big slimly hair ball too!)

Hope you get the spring, cause that's what works the drain stop.

If spring doesn't come out you'll have to "fish" it out.

Clean everything up real good and flush drain good also now.

The "Secret" now is to put the Lever, rod and spring assembly back in and replace screws and get the lever flipped to the left BEFORE you put the Drain Stop in.

My 2000 kohler tub drain leaks. The drain itself

Need clarification....the drain leaks to the ceiling below, or it doesn't hold water? If it doesn't hold water, no need to replace the ring. Those can be adjusted. Simply pull up on on the lever and screw it in clockwise. This will lower the stop and hold the water. If it actually leaks below, unscrew said stopper, grab a pair of needle nose pliers and place them in the drain (to grab the strainer) and use another pair to loosen. Once off, clean around drain and clean strainer, apply plumbers putty to the strainer, apply pipe "dope" (thread sealant) to the threads and tighten back in. Good luck!

Drain stopper in the bathtub has come off how do you reinstall when the stopper turns with a knob on the tub

the stopper just sits in the hole. When you turn the knob the cable operates the piece that raises and lowers the drain plug. The weight of it and the suction of the water is what seals it....provided the o-ring is good on the plug.

My press-to-close, press-to-open bathtub stopper needs to be replaced. How is it removed? Does it unscrew or is it pulled up? I have a three sided shower stall bathtub combination manufacturer unknown.

It is threaded in.

Most times they are installed hand tight and can be removed by grasping and turning counter-clockwise.

Channel locking pliers may be used to remove the existing stopper, it will be discarded anyway. The new unit only needs to be hand tight.

Good luck
