Toshiba Satellite L3505D-S5938 Intermittant Keyboard Issue

Selected keys don't work on my laptop keyboard:

space bar

I first had the keyboard replace, and that fixed the issue for about one day.

I checked my keyboard drivers, and Windows tells me they are up to date.

I tried uninstalling the keyboard drivers, and often that would fix the issue for about an hour, but after several attempts, that doesn't have the same results currently.

I am using Windows Vista.

Any ideas?

Why/is/my/space/bar/and/shift/not/working/cannot/enter/question/mark/either

Keyboards are devices that can fail as easily as any other part of the machine. Even more so since there is the human intervention (finger) factor. The space bar is a heavily used key.....the SHIFT and question mark - not so much. You probably just need to replace the keyboard in the device.

Sign in on toshiba moves to start but arrow disappears so it wont work

If the cursor highlight is positioned over the START button (icon) then you can select it by pressing ENTER or SPACE bar, which is the keyboard equivalent of double clicking with the mouse. To move between the fields, press the TAB key (shift TAB to go backwards or to the previously selected field).

However, the question is not clearly stated...

Hook a external keyboard, if okay! problem with the laptop keyboard. Try a system restore and bring the computer back to a earlier time before this happened, just might work. The keyboard can be disabled from the bios setting I don't see how it can be done any other way.

When i am typing , the keys are automatic got a space even i didn't using the space bar .

Hi Friend, In this case i would recommend you to please try connecting the external keyboard to the system and check if you have the same issue with the external one as well.
If the external one works fine then I believe there is a need to reseat ( disconnect and reconnect) the keyboard.

Keyboard problem with space bar

Is it stuck ... i.e. many space being keyed ... when you are not holding it down ? or is it NOT giving you a space when you press on it ?
Either way, try using a different (external) keyboard to see if the same problem exists. If it's the keyboard, have it cleaned/serviced.

TOSHIBA SATELLITE 205-6267 AND MY ALT KEY NOT WORKING

Hello,

You should have two (2) "alt" on your keyboard. So if one does not work you can use the other.

The two alts are at right and left side of the space bar.

You also have the option of using an external keyboard through your usb.

Take care.

How do I replace the keyboard?

next to the F1 key and the windows key (2nd upper key and second to last key) are two screws, usually under some covering. unscrew and lift top edge of the keyboard towards the trackpad to lay face down. Undo the wire ribbon by lifting the grey or brown tabs and remove ribbon and keyboard. Then install the new keyboard by inserting the ribbon on the place. Lock down with the tabs and put the plastic prongs (close to the space bar) into the laptop body first, and then close keyboard onto the final position. screw back in and thats all. nboulikas@gmail.com for any additional questions.

Can't/use/my/spacebar/ don/'t/have/recovery/cds/for/satellite/135/using/vista

Hi,
I'm afraid that your recovery CD's won't help you get the space bar working.
There could well be dust, biscuit crumbs, hairs etc that's preventing the spacebar from working, turn the laptop off but don't close the lid, stand the laptop on it's side and get yourself a clean, dry paintbrush.
Start to brush the keys and gently tap the keyboard with the other end of the brush to knock out any foreign objects that could be trapped under the spacebar.
Once your happy it's clean turn the laptop on and see if the spacebar works.
If you still have the same symptoms then the keyboard will have to be replaced.
You can use the on-screen keyboard to substitute for the spacebar for the time being.

Good luck.
