This is a very common problem and the possible solutions are many, but the most common problem is that the computer is a bit slow for such things as watching videos on the Internet. You could check your performance tab under Task Manager to see how your computer CPU speed is affected while starting videos. Press Ctrl-Alt-Del keys to bring up the task manager, then go to the performance tab and watch for the percentage CPU usage while under load. Also make sure that your Internet speed is fast enough. Also, sometimes programs such as anti-virus programs will activate when you do something new like start a new program and it will cause delays in the software. The solution for this would be to try another anti-virus software or disable it temporarily just to see if that is the problem.

It's either not buffering enough, or you need to update your flash player from adobe.com.

Slow streaming video

Most streaming video these days is flash-based. I'll assume you have downloaded and installed the latest version of the K-Lite codec pack already. Google Chrome has a tendency to allow more than one version of flash to run at one time, which can cause all kinds of problems. Open up a new tab and type "chrome://plugins" (without the quotes, of course) and hit enter. Adobe Flash Player is usually the first item listed. Click on "+ Details" to the right of that and disable the oldest version that is running, then restart Chrome. Let me know if you're still having trouble after that.

Computer videos are starting and stopping

Either you need more memory in your computer or the site from where you are streaming the videos has a lot of traffic. Also, it might be that you have a slow internet connection. AT&T sells a slow speed internet connection that is not for streaming videos and it will be very slow.

If you can play a DvD on your computer without it starting and stopping then it could be the site you are streaming the video from.

When i down load a video. It will start to play, stop then carry on streaming so the video plays in bits.

You have two choices:

  1. Lower the resolution of the Youtube video so that less bandwidth is used to download it
  2. Play the video and then immediately click pause until the red bar has completed and then play the video
Quite simply, your computer doesn't have a fast enough connection to play the video, you must let it stream enough video in order for you to play it.

Video and audio stops and starts repeatedly, like a dvd or cd skipping. It does this for streaming and downloaded videos and music.

The streaming and download speed cannot keep up with the playing speed of the video or music so when the buffer for the incoming data is emptied, the player has to stop until more data arrives. Depending on the player, there may be a setting for the minimum of data present in the buffer before it starts again. If the player is manually paused (by clicking on its pause button), the streaming and downloading should continue until it is completely stored in local cache and after resuming play, it should be without anymore starts and stops. However, player pausing for some type of streaming stops the incoming data stream as there is no local cache so in this situation, there is no advantage to be gained by pausing the player. The incoming speed is determined by the speed of the slowest link that the data must traverse so even if the local link is extremely fast, there may be slower or more congested parts of the internet that are acting as a throttle.

When I try to download a video it constantly stops and loads and will not play all the way threw. It keeps pausing and playing on and off throughout the whole video. Why is it doing this?

I believe you are playing streaming video. if this the case, it would depend on your actual connection speed. when it pauses, it means, it is downloading portion of the video, then it resumes to play the downloaded part. Once it has been played, it will need to pause to download again. If your connection is not as fast as what is required by the streaming video, a trick would be to open the streaming video and when it tries to start, press the PAUSE button. Allow the progress bar to go till the end of the video (same like letting it download completely), then it will play fully when you hit PLAY.

My youtube is stopping and starting & it is stalling?

this is normal with streaming videos. This is the buffering process where the video stream is downloaded, when it starts again, the downloaded stream is being played. If this frequently happens, it would mean your connection is not that fast. May help to clean browsing history, then get a faster internet connection, otherwise, when you play a youtube video, click pause and let it buffer for a while, when the buffer indicator has reached more than half or has completed, you can then play the video continuously.

Streaming video on the internet

Your download speed may be effecting this. What you need to do is waiting until file has completed downloading, then watch the video. If a direct feed from the net, hit "play" on the screen, but then "pause" wait a about 20 secs and hit "play" again, this will give it enough time to get ahead of itself.

Videos start and stop

Yes the videos you are referring to are probably streaming videos, so once they begin to stream stop the video until the stream reads ahead (the amount will depend on your bandwidth), then once the streaming is well ahead you can start the video again and watch it glitch free unless the video progress starts to catch up to the streaming status at which time you just need to pause again and so forth. You could just wait until the stream is complete and enjoy your video.
Good luck.
