Question about Computers & Internet
I've replaced the PSU of my Dell Dimension 8300 by a solytech d460 atx, with a special cut on the back side so that the power switch can fit.
when i push the power button of the PC, the PC is trying to boot, but after the XP logo, the PSU turns Off. I must switch it Off. compatibility problem between the Dell's power button connected to the MotherBoard, and the PSU ?
After replacing by the original PSU, everything's OK.
I don't undersand.
I have done countless transplants with over the counter PSUs in Dells, HP and many other OEM rigs without incident. I would suspect you have a faulty PSU. Just make sure you are getting one with a little more power than you currently have and try to match the design spec as much as you can. If you can find one without the aux. power switch then that's even better, but it makes no difference.
