The vent is contained in the fuel cap. Try disassembly and clean or replace. HTH

The likely IPL for for your saw is here:

on Page J; 503 62 04-01 & 501 62 98-01 may be fuel vent parts. I like Husky saws but hate their IPLs. A call to your local husky dealer should verify whether these are vent parts.

On the underneath the forward handle of my 359 is a tag with 2 lines of numbers. The first line (917 04 17*00) is the model number. The second line (06 1500198) is the serial number; it means (06 = year made, 15 = week made, 00198 = 198th made that week. My saw does NOT have a vented cap either. Wrong again. GL Lou

I have a husqvarna 345 run for a few cuts then stops.

either blocked fuel filter in the fuel tank ( hook out and replace ) or the fuel tank breather is blocked thus causing a vacume in the tank, to prove this, when the saw starts to die slacken off the filler cap, this will allow air into the tank and it should pick up again, the breather is pressed into the tank on the r/h side rear.

Chainsaw stops running

When it starts to die slacken off the fuel cap enough to allow air into the tank, if it picks up again it is an issue with the fuel tank breather, if the breather is blocked it will create a vacume in the tank and stop fuel flow to the carb.

. Have a 350 Husqvarna chainsaw which idles

This sounds like fuel starvation, replace the fuel filter in the fuel tank, if this does not help, when it starts to die just slacken off the fuel filler cap, if it picks up and runs normaly then it is a tank braeather issue, the breather is on the top right hand corner of the fuel tank, replace it.

The fuel tank is in the crankcase, so there is a possibility of vapour lock if you have poor quaility fuel in your area, there is also a tank breather under the starter cover at the top right hand side, i have had to change quite a few of these, the breather is very tight to get around the emmissions ( gas leakage from the fuel tank ) i have been fitting the old pellet type breather fron the early three series saws, these are more open and do not vacume the tank, when it srats to die just try slackening the fuel filler cap, if it picks up again it is a breather issue.

My John Deere stx46 riding mower acts like it becomes starved for gas after using for hour or so. Fuel filter is new, gas line new, coil pack new. Ran fine last year. Filter will be emtpy when dies, then...

Try loosening the gas cap a little...... there is a normally a small breather hole in the top or underside just above the seal which allows a small amount of air to enter into the fuel tank. Sometimes this breather hole gets clogged..... stopping air from entering into the fuel tank as fuel is used. Eventualy enough vacume pressure accumulates inside he tank causing a vapor lock. If you loosen your fuel cap slightly.... this should prevent the problem your experiencing. If it does... try soaking cap in deisel fuel or heating oil overnight, remove and allow to dry prior to re-installing. If the problem persists after a good soak, only option is to replace fuel cap. GOOD LUCK!

It certainly sounds fuel related, remove the fuel hose from the fuel tank and replace the filter on the end, try the machine again, if it is no better it could well be an issue with the fuel tank breather, to test this run the saw until the problem starts to occur, slacken the fuel cap enough to allow air into the tank, if the machine picks up and runs well you will need to replace the tank breather, let us know if this works and i will will go through how to change the breather.

When saw is running it dies unless i undo the vented gas cap then the saw will keep going is there any other way on other than the gas cap for it to vent or help breath? on a 372 xp

The vent on the 372 is not in the cat, it is situated on the right hand rear side of the fuel tank, the early vent was a black pipe pressed into the tank with a white ( vion ) plug in it, this can be pulled out by screwing a self tapping screw into the middle of it and pulling out with a pair of pliers, the later breather is in the same place but consist of a green valve pressed into the tank, it then has a black pipe conected to it which comes up into the crankcase and sits onto a nipple under the air filter, this can be pulled out with a pair of pliers and replaced, the later breather is very prone to blocking, due to CE law and gas escape from fuel tanks the breather is very fine.

One other possibility is a blocked fuel tanlk breather.
If it is fine a lower speeds but chokes at hgh RPM then the fuel tank may not be able to draw in enough air to replace the fuel which the engine is drawing out of it...which will create a vacum thus starving the engine of fuel.

You may be able to check for this by driving to the point where you get this problem... STOP and open the filler cap. If you ger a hissing sound as it opens then its highly likly you have a vacum problem.

Check all breather pipes and vents for blockages and straighten out any kinks to cure it.
