Check the voltage at the tip of the AC adapter. Most of these problems are from faulty ac adapters. Laptops need a good consistent power source otherwise they shut down intermittently or don't startup at all because of power issues. The problem is, is that a faulty power supply can destroy a motherboard if the voltage is not correct and starts throwing off power spikes. Realize that this may have already happened. Try a different power source first.

Lap top does not function when I press the on button

Things to try or check. Remove battery pack and try turning it on with just the AC adapter supplying power. Try a different AC adapter. Try connecting a VGA monitor to the VGA port (on the side or back) of the laptop and press the Fn (function) key to enable/switch video to the external display.

Laptop won't boot up

Here below are possible causes and troubleshooting steps of laptop that can't power on, hope it may help:
Possible causes:

1. Toshiba Satellite A215 adapter failure.
2. Power jack failure.
3. Motherboard failure.

Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solutions:
1. Test the AC adapter with a digital multimeter. It's possible that you have a failed AC adapter. If you don't have a multimeter, test your laptop with another known good AC adapter.

2.It's possible that power jack (socket where you plug the AC adapter) is broken. Remove the motherboard and take a closer look at the power jack. In some cases you can fix the jack by resoldering it on the motherboard. In other cases you have to replace the jack with a new one. Using a multimeter, test if the power goes to the motherboard through the jack.

3. If replacing the AC power adapter and jack on the motherboard doesn't help, most likely you have a bad motherboard. Replace the motherboard.

My averatec lap top os stuck in sleep mode

Hi. I suggest you try pressing the power button to wake it up or you could also try power draining it and turting it on. To powerdrain your computer you must remove first the battery and unplug the ac adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds, after that you must place back the battery and plugin the ac adapter then turn on your computer. Hope This Helps

Nothing on my toshiba satellite a215 will come on

Try the following.
1. Remove battery and plug in the AC Adapter and check if it works
2. Check the AC adapter LED indicator if its lighted or not(double check by a multitester)
If lighted - it works properly
if not - replace
3. Try to reinstall WINDOWS operating system by the use of the installer CD
4. If problem persist - the motherboard might be defective.

Thanks. Cheers!

My Dell Inspiron 1525 just stopped! Won't turn on!

Ok not an issue follow these steps
1. check the ac adapter has a light on it when connected to the laptop and when disconnected from the laptop.
2.If the ac adapter has light then connect it to the system and then press and hold the Fn key present at the bottom left hand corner and then turn on the sytem . Check if there is any light that comes on and then turns off . If it does make a note of it and at the same time check if the sytme beeps , if it does make a note of the interval of beeps

3. if there is no response then you could try removing something called as the memory from ur laptop by flipping the laptop over disconnect the acadapter and battery check for a bay whicj\h reads C/M on it which is the memry bay . U will find memory modules which is green in colour . u just need to move the latch on either sides of it to release it . Try one memory and then turn on the ystem . If this doesnt fix most probably its an issue with the motherboard .

INSPIRON SYSTEM HAVE ISSUE WITH MOTHERBOARD hence try using a different ac adapter amd check the acadapter port for damages .

Toshiba Satellite AC Adapter?

You can use an adapter with a lower or the same voltage, but not higher voltage. Also it should have similar amperes. Also it needs the same polarity. That's the +/- indicator. This page has a positive polarity symbol:

There's no need to pay ridiculous amounts of money for an exact brand name adapter.
