Question about Samsung DVD-V8600 DVD Player/VCR
I can't get the vhs to play on this machine even though I hear the mechanism working and the display on the unit says the VHS is activated. The screen for the tv still says DVD even when I'm trying to use the VHS. Any ideas? Both have worked in the past, but now only the DVD is functioning..
I had same problem using the s-video connection. reconnected with composite cables and problem fixed. Thanks

It could be that the output to TV from VHS only works through the composite cables (the red, white, yellow).

If it won't PLAY VHS tapes it must have a serious mechanical problem (if it even loads) or its heads are glommed up, so it obviously won't record them either. When's the last time you ran a cleaning tape through it?
Solve the load or playback problem and it will probably record.
Time and poor storage conditions are the mortal enemies of tapes. Store the in a 'played
