Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Usually this happens when the control board has gone bad or due to loose/burnt connections on the control board. Please tell me how many beeps do you hear and also the status of the lights. Also tell me if the dishwasher starts humming when you turn on the power. Please confirm me the Dishwasher Model, Is it GE GHDA485NCS?

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

    Check if the controls are working fine, if not then it is the control board that is faulty and needs to be replaced.

My GE dishwasher will not change cycles when pressing the normal wash cycle button. The lights are all on, but I cannot change the cycle from light wash to normal wash. Any ideas? Can it be reset?

Most likely the keypad will have to be replaced. If the lights change, but the cycle stays on light, it's in the control module or the switch.

Have you tried cutting the power to the unit and re-powering? If it's connected to an always on circuit, shut off the fuse that controls it and turn it back on in a minute.

I have a GE Profile refrigerator that will not dispense water or ice. The panel and light work and when you try to get ice or water it does nothing. No noise either. It is model # PFSS6PKW

When both ice and water do not work it is usually related to the door / light switch failing. Check the door switch by depressing the plunger and see if the compartment light goes out. If it oes not go out the switch has failed. WITH POWER REMOVED the switch is removed by using a thin knife blade to release the single locking tab on one side of the switch. The switch had 3 terminals
C = Common
NC= Light
NO= water and ice.

You should read continiuty (resistance)
from C to NC plunger extended
from C to NO plunger depressed.

If this switch is good then there is a problem with door hinge wiring or control panel wiring.
My bet the door switch has failed.

There are 12 models of this french door refrigerator.
The door switch it item 636 of this link:

Dishwasher is beeping every 20 seconds, but not turning on.

There is most likely a problem with one of the door switches. Right where the door latches to the tub there is a small white plunger in the opening of the door which gets pushed down to trip two switches within the door. Disconnect power to the dishwasher and take out the phillips head screws holding the inner and outer door panels together. Check out the plastic cover over the door switches to make sure it has not warped due to heat. The cover is held on by four plastic tabs. The white plunger has a spring on the bottom of it, so watch out for it so you won't lose it. The flat side of the white plunger faces the dishwasher's tub.

I have a F&P dishwasher model DW60CDX1 (around 5 years old) which we cannot start a cycle. The dishwasher turns on (power button and all programme indicators light up) but when you press a programme...

The micro switch in the door which senses the door closing has probably failled. This is accessible once the inner door cover is removed. Switch should be under $10 from electrical store. Or buy through appliance manufacturer.

GE dishwasher GLD5800L Experiencing panel issues - the start or delay button does not work.

The door closed switches on this model are a problem. There are two switches activated by the plunger. They both need to be open when the door is open and both closed when the door is closed. Remove power before working on the switches. I had to add small spacers to adjust the switches position. The touch panel will not work right if the switches are acting up.

No water coming in

Check the float.
There is a float inside the dishwasher but you can't see it. The small dome in the bottom has a float inside that activates a switch underneath by a plunger. Sometimes this float gets stuck in the up position. Take the bottom panel off and look directly under the dome for the switch and the plunger that activates the switch. Push this plunger up to see if it moves freely. If it moves then you need to check the switch then the water valve solenoid with an OHM meter. Next, use the meter to see if the timer is sending power (110) to the water valve.

If everything is good to this point then check the water supply. Turn the water supply off, disconnect the water line from the dishwasher water valve, run a small amount of water into a pan.

Hope this helps.
