Question about Nikon COOLPIX L18 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Coolpix L18 will not connect to my computer.

The camera will not upload any pictures to my computer. The computer doesn't even recognise the camera when I plug it in. It will not register and doesn't show up in the "Computer"-folder like it normally does.
I am sure that I am doing this correctly, because I had no problem with it before.
Help, anyone?

Try using a separate card reader to download your pictures to a folder you create on your desktop.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Nikon Transfer or Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

How can i upload pictures from my nikon coolpix camera to my computer. I have the usb cord and nothing pops up on the computer, when i connect it

Hi Steel,

Open Windows Explorer and click on My Computer so it displays the drives.

When you attach your camera to the USB cable, the computer should interpret it as another hard drive being attached.

If it doesn't pop up immediately, click on View, then click refresh. It should show up then.

Best regards,
Mike

Out of memory on Nikon Coolpix L18 camera

I noticed that, after dumping the full SD card onto my computer, I didn't seat it perfectly back in the camera (my finger bottomed out on the batteries before the memory card 'clicked' into place. With the camera unable to see the SD card, it defaulted to the internal memory, which is very small.

I got the SD card seated fully and the "Out of Memory" message went away.

You don't need the disk to transfer your pictures from your camera to your computer. Just take your sd card out of your camera and plug it into your computer. A folder with your pictures will appear on your computer. Copy them to a different folder on your computer, so you can take your sd card out and still have them on there.
If that doesn't work, plug the cable in that came with your camera, and hopefully that will work. I hope this helps. Please rate my solution.
