I've altered the screen brightness on my Canon Powershot to no avail. In bright light conditions (99% of my photos) it is impossible to see the photo I'm composing on the screen. Next time I'll be sure to buy a camera with a viewfinder! Is there a stick-on anti-glare subtance one can buy in order to see the photos one is taking?

It's a little more complicated than that. The camera is a Powershot A2000 IS and that seems to be harder to find an anti-glare screen for. This camera doesn't even appear on FixYa's list. Glad to know we're on the right track though.

I have Canon PowerShot A460 .When i capture a picture it look utterly bright both on Camera Screen and in PC. It flashes both in night mode and in day light or sun light. I 've reset all the functions...

I suspect that your shutter has stopped working. When you take the photos in good light, the shutter stays open causing total over exposure. I bet if you take a photo at night in a dimly lit place with flash, the photos would be fine as this does situation does not rely on the shutter.

Excess light receipt in outdoor shooting.photos are becoming so bright that it becomes impossible to recognise

Unfortunately, this is a common problem with the low-cost Canon A4XXX series. It's likely a flex ribbon cable failure, deep inside the camera (see this link). This repair is very difficult, and not recommended for the average person. Also, professional repair for this issue will likely be more than the value of the camera. Sorry I don't have better news for you, but it may be time to consider the purchase of a new camera.

My camera canon powershot A430 is giving hazy pictures

This may sound silly, but have you checked the front lens element on the camera, a thick layer of fingerprints will give you hazy photos and what can look like over exposure in bright conditions.

Photos taken outside are too bright

turn down your exposure.
or your cam may be set to night mode
so it lets more light in.

Lens does not retract in play back mode

Never buy a Canon camera again. I have the same problem, and sorry that nobody has a solution. This is the worst of the 3 Canon digitals I have purchased. Lack of a view finder makes it impossible to preview shot when outside on a bright day.

The LCD screen is hard to see. What should I do?

If the LCD screen is too bright or too dark, adjust the LCD Brightness setting in the Setup Menu. If you are shooting photos outdoors in bright light, move the joystick to the icon showing the sun over shaowed area to turn on Outdoor mode and make the LCD screen easier to see in bright light.
