Download the correct software from blackberry.com. In order to use the COM port, the blackberry desktop manager must be running in the back ground.

You're trying to set your blackberry up as a modem, correct? If yes, once you install the software you then need to configure your COM port. I found the link below helpful if this is what you want your blackberry to do. You should then be able to use your webcam and your blackberry will be recognized as a dial up modem.

Blackberry curve 8330 cellphone will not show up as connected when connected with USB cable to my macbook pro. One suggestion to solve this was to turn off MTP setting. Where is this setting found?

Hello!

You must enable Mass Storage on the device.

Go to Options -> Memory -> Mass Storage Support. Make sure the field is enabled.

Try again and see if it pops up on your Mac. If it doesn't, go to the Blackberry website and download the Blackberry Desktop software. Try connecting through that.

Hope this helps!

How do I transfer pictures from my blackberry device to the media card?

It's recommended to buy a microSD card to store your media files on, so you don't run out of memory on your device.

Depending on what OS your BlackBerry is tells you what size microSD card you can buy. You can check under Options ' About (will be listed as v4.xx.xxx). Look at the chart at the following link to see what size you can obtain -http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB05461

On the BlackBerry go into Options ' Media Card. Recommended media settings are as follows:

Media Card support : ON
Encryption Mode : NONE
Mass Storage Support : ON
Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected : YES

Mass Storage mode allows your BlackBerry to act as an extra drive when connected to your PC. So it will show up as an extra drive letter in Windows Explorer. So you can just drag/drop media files onto your media card and vice versa.

Or if you use ITunes, you can you the Media Sync to synchronize with the device. Read up about that here:http://na.blackberry.com/eng/devices/features/media/mediasync.jsp#tab_tab_overview

You need to plug the blackberry into the computer and make sure 'mass storage mode' is on(options, settings, memory, mass storage) it will treat your BB as an external hard drive and allow you to get photos, video, music, etc off device memory

If the below does not work, maybe just attach it to an email and send it that way. Good Luck
About transferring media files
You can connect your BlackBerry® device to your computer to transfer files between your device and your computer, or you can use
Bluetooth® technology to send media files to or receive media files from a Bluetooth enabled device.
If you connect your device to your computer, you can transfer files between your media card and your computer using mass storage mode,
or you can transfer media files between your device and your computer using the media manager tool of the BlackBerry® Desktop
Manager. For more information about using the media manager tool, see the Media Manager Online Help.
If you turn on media card encryption and you transfer files to your media card using mass storage mode or Bluetooth technology, your
device does not encrypt the transferred files. If you transfer encrypted files from your media card using mass storage mode or Bluetooth
technology, you cannot decrypt the files on your computer or on a Bluetooth enabled device.
Transfer a file between your device and your computer using the media manager tool
1. Connect your BlackBerry® device to your computer.
2. On your computer, open the BlackBerry® Desktop Manager.
3. Double-click Media Manager.
4. Drag a file or folder from one location to another.
For more information about using the media manager tool, see the Media Manager Online Help.

2. Click a category.

You have to isolate the problem. Please follow the steps below:

1. Connect the Blackberry into different USB port of the computer.
2. Try connecting the phone in to different computer to test if there's really a problem with the phone.
3. Try using different USB cable for the phone.
4. Check the user manual to see if you need to set it as "Mass Storage Device" before connecting it to the computer.

Otherwise, you need to consult the phone manufacturer for some advise.

Have a great day!

Can't download music from my PC to the Blackberry Curve

Go to the options, then click media card, scroll to Auto Enable Mass Storage and set to prompt. Unplug your BB from USB and plug it back in. It will prompt you with a message "Do you want to turn on Mass Storage Mode? Click yes. Don't click Don't ask this question again. I actually came here to find the solution, then i figured it out. Your "Disk Drive" added will then say Blackberry.
