I am in a hospital and their network wont let me get to facebook

That is because it is a security factor on most networks. It is too easy to hack through to major areas in peer to peer network chats and programs like FB and Twitter. A good network administrator will lock most of these areas out to make staff get on with the real work they are getting paid for.
They are also able to see who is trying to log onto those URL's via special software that records both URL's and IP# within their network.
