You 910 serger doesn't have the option for a Chain Stitch. It is a 2, 3, or 4 thread serger. You can do a good number of different stitches but a chain stich is not one of them.

If what you mean it that it won't "chain off", meaning sew with no fabric beneath the foot as you gently pull the thread towards the rear of the machine, that could be for a number of different reasons. First, change the needles and unthread the machine and start over. If the threads are not exactly where they should be, your serger won't sew correctly. A great video on threading your machine can be seen at:http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/mediafiles/huskylock/index_en.html

Serger Machine

HI,

If the timing is "out", you will not be able to form the chain stitch.......do a sample to see that you have all 4 or 3 threads involved in forming a complete stitch.........if you do, then it is not timing.

My machine will chain without fabric but as soon as I place fabric and sew it will not make stitches on fabric

Be sure to use brand new needles in the machine (confirm they are the correct needles for the machine) and make sure they are installed facing the correct direction and pushed all the way up before tightened. Start a chain without the fabric, then when it's a couple inches long, raise the presser foot and add the fabric.

Could be your machine has a timing issue and probably requires service.

Huskylock 936 will not form a 4-thread overlock stitch

It may be difficult to solve a computer controlled machine with as many options as the 936 serger. Stepper motors control many of the functions. You can check out this video I made 4 years ago to get an idea of where to look.

Husqvarna viking 910 serger will not power on.

check the power cord to make sure it's plugged into the machine
correctly
make sure the outlet is working
it's also possible that the on and off switch has gone out
it's also possible that the machine could have a hidden fuse, I
would suggest contacting viking customer service to see if there
is a fuse

Serger won't chain off a stitch. Stitches won't chain and hold to fabric. Added new needle, rethreaded whole machine. Stitches won't connect to fabric or make a chain.

is it possible that the needles are in backwards?
it's very possible that the machine is out of time & would have to be taken to a sewing machine repair shop to be retimed

My Janome 204d Serger won't form a chain stitch. It is threaded correctly. I have changed the needles??

I would suggest that you check the needles again, make sure they are both fully up into the needle housing. Also they should be at different heights in order to form the stitch sequence.

It is important that you thread the loopers first in the sequence shown in your manual, then the needles. So you may need to recheck the threading again and make sure the threads are in all the eyes correctly, especially the lower looper. Also some overlockers, have a sliding eye on the lower looper for ease of threading, if yours does, make sure it has been slid back to normal operating position.

When you have checked the threading up, take all four threads under the raised pressure foot and make sure that the upper looper thread and lower looper threads are not crossing over each other. Lower the pressure foot and try to chain off again.
I hope this helps you to resolve the issue.

How to thread huckylock 901 serger

The picture diagram works the best for this, it tells you how to tread for every different stitch that you want to perform. You have to thread it in different ways for every stitch so it is difficult to tell you in writing. If you visit your local Viking dealer they would be able to make you a copy and I'm sure show you how right there.

Husqvarna huskylock 910 wont form chain while sewing

Are you sure the tension is right? You might need to push the thread hard against the track after leaving spool going into the machine (until it clicks). I had that problem also. Hope that helps.

Husqvarna 910 won't create a chain.

You may have knocked the machine out of time if the machine does not pick up stitches.
