Have you checked the safeties? In particular the rider presence switch (under the seat).

Why is it that my riding Lawnmower doesn't cut when I lower the deck to cut the grass lower

Tighten or replace drive belt. Before you do that though, with the deck raised right up and engine switched off reach underneath deck and grab hold of blades and try to move them up and down. Make sure there is no build up of debris between pulleys and guards. Remove the belt off pulleys if you can. Turn blades and check they are free to turn. What you are doing here is checking the blade spindle bearings for wear or damage. If they have excessive movement or feel rough and/or tight replace them. If they are good and the belt looks in good order, tighten belt That is done by adjusting the deck rods so the deck moves back. You tube have some videos of belt adjustment.

Ride on mower engine cuts out when lowering cutting deck

hi there

pauly 46 here

off the top off my head - if the tractor starts with the pk brake on , and the operator in his seat,
and you try ty lower deck ( which operates another switch ) it maybe the seat switch is playing up

try pulling the wires off the connector @ the seat switch and retry deck lowering-?

then try fitting a jump wire accross those two connectors you just disconnected at the seat switch and retry

if not check that your switch that is activated when you lower the deck is not stuck closed ?

if not check that your pk brake switch is not stuck closed (it should normally be open when tractor is in use with user in seat, and deck engaged and in gear )

check that all belts / pulleys and blade spindles turn freely and are not siezed / damaged

other than that dont know how else i can help ?

cheers pauly46

LA110, 42" mower deck, 1

Check that the cutting tip of the blade that is cutting lower is not bent down. Also park the mower on a level surface and lower the deck and check the gap under the front of the deck is even. If not, there are levelling adjustments on the top of one side of the deck. Regards Phil

Uneven grass cut, makes the lawn look striped.

First make sure all the tires have the same pressure of air.

Then I would measure how much the one side of the deck is higher than the other. Then I would look under the tractor and there should be a horrozontal bar atatching to the deck and a bar coming down from the mower into this bar. usually there is a nut on the bottom than can be tighened or loosened to raise or lower the deck on that side.

There might also be a nob on the tractor that shows a picture of tall grass being cut, if you turn that that might also raise or lower the deck on either side.

Ride on Mountfield Lawn mower 1228H - engine cuts out

Check to make sure there is no obstruction in the blades or on top of the deck where the belt goes. Also check that your pulleys turn freely and that a bearing didn't freeze up.
Let me know if this helps.

Did you check the wires goin to the motor under the frame to see if one of them came disconnected? Or...you might need a new switch.
