1 Answer

The cog on the the bottom of the removable bin broke. Can a new cog be installed by pressing it on the shaft by hand, or does it have to be attached mechanically? The bin is OK, but do I have to replace the whole thing to get the connecting cog? Kenmore Model No. 51554101 Thank you for your advice.

I have a 1986 mercury outboard motor, thunderbolt ignition, 50HP, 4 cylinder. Forward gear works great. Reverse gear works very slowly , moves boat very slow and weak. Appreciate any help.TY

there is no gear box as such in an outboard leg it is just a clutch dog that is slid from front to rear to engage the cogs attached to the prop shaft
the related gear forward or reverse is attached to the shaft with a drive pin or splines
you will have to pull the unit apart to find what section has failed as it appears that the cog on the shaft is slipping ( sheared pin or failed splines in cog)

Whirlpool refrigerator ED5RHEXMT00 makes plenty of ice but is not dispensing any when the door lever is pressed. The water part is fine.

The ice bin slides down in little tracks and the drive mechanism engages the auger. It sounds like you have frost build-up in the bottom of the little slots that the ice bin rests in. The build-up keeps the drive from engaging the auger. I use a hair dryer to defrost all the accumulation under the bin once it is removed. Remove the bin by tilting out and then lifting up and out at an angle. Also empty the bin of ice cubes and check underneath for ice build up on the bottom of it too.

How do you put a timing belt back in time after it broke?

Well, hopefully the valves were not damaged when the belt broke, If no valve damage was done, get the engine/crankshaft to top dead center, line up camshaft sprocket to timing mark and install belt around pulleys, gears, replace water pump if needed, tension belt if no automatic tensioner is used, try to start to see if it runs and hopefully it will. Might be time for an engine if valve damage was done.

I need to replace oil pump on a 1988 ford bronco 2

Remove oil pan, making sure to drain oil first. Remove oil pump attaching bolts. Lift off oil pump and withdraw oil pump drive shaft.
INSTALLATION;
Prime the new oil pump by filling either the inlet or outlet port with engine oil. Rotate the pump shaft to distribute oil within the pump body. Insert oil pump drive shaft into block dwith the pointed end facing inward. The pointed end is closest to the pressed-on flange. Place oil pump into position with a new gasket and install attaching screws. Tighten the screws to 15-22 foot pounds of tourque. Clean and install the oil pump inlet tube and screen assembly with a new gasket. Tighten the bolts, then replace the oil pan.
Oil Pan;
Clean of any debris and replace gasket. Fit the oil pan bolts and tighten in two steps. Start from the rear/left hand side and tighten first, then tighten the bolt in the front/right side. Alternate from rear to front, working from back to front and front to back.

Broken belt how to fix i have a belt

Take off belt cover on the left side of the top cover, turn cleaner over, take out screw from red lock and remove, pull cap and brush roll out, unhook the cogged belt, then you can replace the pump belt thru that opening. Put belt over the pump pulley and stretched to go over the motor shaft. Then check the cogged belt and the cogged end of the pully to make sure that there are cogs, replace belt if there are cogss missing or belt is broke, if no cogs on the pulley, then you will have to replace the pump. Pulley only comes witht he pump.
