Are you using windows xp? if so - close the on screen keyboard out, then click on start-run and enter osk and click ok. once the keyboard reopens, click on "keyboard" at the top, and ensure "standard keyboard" is selected. If you hover your mouse over the keys, are you seeing the keys illuminate in blue?
