Question about Kitchen Ranges

2 Answers

The oven went through its self-clean cycle - at the end the LOCKED advice does not disappear and the lock itself won't retract. I have opened the door by manually disengaging the lock, but it relocks when closed, and the oven burners won't come on, apparently, until the LOCKED thing is gotten rid of. we've tried plugging in / unplugging, and tried on the panel to get it to cooperate, but no encouragement so far - my wife caters, and has a dinner going out Tuesday, but hard to see how, with the range we have. It's a Kitchenaid Superba Selectra Self-Clean - actual stove 200 km away, so getting model number will be tricky. ANy ideas???

It's an electric range - a Kitchenaid Superba Selectra - model number not available - range is 160 miles away - oven was cleaned and even after apparent cooldown, the LOCKED sign is displayed on control panel, and won't go off, and the locking mechanism won't retract. Can open oven, but oven can't heat up with mechanical lock on. Still need help and giving advice for gas range isn't quite worth what I paid, by a couple of miles

It is a 2 to 3 hour process with a cool down time of 1 to 2 hours before it will unlock the door; if it does not unlock you will need to replace the door locking mechanism to accomplish this repair.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Replace the glow coil. If still the problem persists, then it is due to the oven igniter which draws certain amperage to open the oven igniter. You can check this with amp meter. Another issue might be a pressure regulator problem which is located at the gas line entering the gas range.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

How can I get self clean to start?

To Self-Clean Using AUTO-CLEAN

1. Press AUTO CLEAN.
2. Press the HOUR and MIN "up" or "down" arrow pads to set the desired self-clean cycle time.
3. Press START. The oven door will automatically lock. "CLn," "LOCKED," "ON," "CLEAN," the Cooktop Lockout icon, and the time remaining will be displayed.
4. When the self-clean cycle is complete "END" will be displayed, and "PUSH"/"OFF" will blink alternately.
5. Press OFF/CANCEL. "LOCKED," "END," and the Cooktop Lockout icon will disappear from the display. "PUSH"/"OFF" will stop blinking, and clock will show the time of day.
6. Once the oven is completely cooled, remove ash with a damp cloth.

I hope this helps and thank you for a model number that made this possible for me to assist you. Good Luck

Scholtes FE46 and the door is locked. Also no clock/timer lights. Temp/function and oven work but is locked even though completely cold.

Here are a couple of things to try:
  1. Unplug the unit or shut off the circuit breaker for 5 minutes. Plug the unit back in or turn on the circuit breaker. Set the clock and gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door.
  2. Set the self-clean cycle again and only allow it to work for 15 minutes. Cancel the self-clean cycle and allow the oven to cool. Gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door.

Tried to clean it. Door has locked and won't cycle open again. Help!

Hello.

To close an oven door when it's in the locked position andthe door is open, press and hold the oven door light switch while followingthese simple steps:
  • Program the oven to self-clean.
  • Wait 20 seconds.
  • Cancel self-clean.
  • Wait 20 seconds.
To self-clean your wall oven, follow these simple steps:
  • Remove the oven racks.
  • Set your oven control to "Clean."
  • Select a cleaning time or choose a cleaning level: light, medium or heavy. For typical cleaning needs, we recommend that you select a cleaning time of three hours or choose the medium setting.
  • Select "Start." (To set a delayed start, see your Use & Care Guide.)

Note: For safety reasons, the oven door will remain locked until the oven coolsdown. When it is sufficiently cool, the door will automatically unlock Thanks for using fixya.

When trying to use either upper or lower oven, panel flashing "Control Locked." Won't work.

Try this:

ToChangeFactorySetDefaultOptions:

2. Currentoptionwillappearin thedisplay.

3. PresstheAUTOSETpadtochangethe

option.

4. PressCANCELpadtosetthe displayed
optionandexittheprogram

The LOCK is option 4 change the OPTION from 4 to 9.
9 is the factory default settings.

This should work. However.... there is the possibility that the unit had performed a self clean function. If you just completed a self clean cycle it can but up to 1 hour AFTER the cycle before you can open the door or use the oven as the range must cool down and cycle a thermostat before it wil work again.

There is also the possibility that the door lock has not completely retracted. If you can get it to start a self clean cycle.... after 1 minute press cancel and the lock should retract. (I know you said won't do anything) I am hoping that after you reset the options from 4 to 9 that you might be able to do this.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Oven door lock

Hi John. Try running it through a short clean cycle with the door almost closed. Some models, but not all will recycle this way retracting the locks when the cycle ends. If yours won't try unplugging it overnight and then plugging it back in. At that point the locks may retract, but once again not on all models.

Oven wont work after self clean

I have a Whirlpool MOD. RBS275PDB17 single electric self-cleaning oven; although the manual is generic, it specifies, "When the cycle is completed and the oven cools, "End" will appear on the lower oven display and "LOCKED' will disappear" and "To Stop Self-Clean any time: Press UPPER/OFF, LOWER/OFF or OFF/CANCEL. If the oven temperature is too high, the door will remain locked. It will not unlock until the oven cools." Has your oven had time to cool?

Oven door won't unlock

I had the same problem on my Kenmore Electric Range. Door would not unlock. Tried pressing "Off" for multiple seconds, but still would not unlock. No error codes. Clock was displaying normally. Finally decided to try running it thru the self cleaning operation to get it to cycle thru locking and unlocking the door. When I started self clean, the door automatically went thru the auto lock and "locked" appeared in the display. I then hit "Off" to clear it and stop the cleaning cycle. The door then unlocked as normal!
