Re: Water Dispenser

Does your refrig have a built in water filter? it may need replacing. if thats ok try checking your water supply to be sure that there isnt a kinked water line. if both of those check ok you may have a bad fill valve.

Want to know when and how to replace water filter on a ge side by side refrig

The water filter status light or indicator, present on some models, will help you know when to change your water filter. The light, or indicator, is located either on the temperature control panel in the refrigerator compartment or on the dispenser control panel on the freezer door.

The indicator will be one of two styles.

If the indicator is a light or series of lights, the light will change from green to yellow. This tells you that it is almost time to change the filter. It is recommended that you replace the filter when the status light changes to red or when water flow to your water dispenser or ice maker noticeably decreases.
If the indicator resembles a stack of bars, the bar height will decrease and the status display will change from "Good" to "Order." This tells you that it is almost time to change the filter. Replace the water filter cartridge when the water filter status display changes to "Replace" or when water flow to your water dispenser or ice maker noticeably decreases.
If a filter status light/indicator is not present, the filter should be changed at least once every 6 months. Your filter may need to be replaced more frequently depending on your usage and water quality.

If the water flow to the water dispenser or ice maker noticeably decreases before 6 months have passed, you may need to replace the water filter cartridge more often. Decreased water flow is a sign that the filter is clogged and needs to be replaced.

If the filter is clogged and you are not able to immediately replace it, remove the filter so the water system is in bypass mode. With the filter removed, the water system will continue to operate, bypassing the filter, and the clogged filter will not cause slow water dispensing or low ice production. However, in order to have filtered water, you will need to install a new filter.

The filter status display will help you know when to change your
water filter. When the display reads 10%, order a new filter. It is
recommended that you replace the filter when the display reads 10% OR when water flow to your water dispenser or ice maker decreases.

The filter should be replaced at least every 6 months depending on your water quality and usage.

Step 2
Press the eject button to release the filter from the base grille.

Step 3
Pull the filter straight out.

Step 4

Turn the cap counterclockwise to remove it from the filter. IMPORTANT: Do not discard the cap. It is part of your refrigerator. Keep the cap to use with the replacement filter.

Step 5
Align the ridge on the cap with the arrow on the new filter and
turn the cap until it snaps into place.

Step 6
Remove the protective covers from the O-rings. Be sure the O-rings are still in place after the covers are removed.

Step 7
Push the filter into the base grille. The eject button will pop back out when the filter is fully engaged.

Step 8
Flush the water system. Use a sturdy cup or glass. Depress and hold the
water dispenser lever for 5 seconds, then release it for 5 seconds. Repeat this process until water begins to flow. Once water begins to flow, continue depressing and releasing the dispenser lever. Hold down for 5 seconds and then release for 5 seconds. Do this on/off process for about 2 minutes. This will flush air from the filter and water dispensing

Hope this helpout in changing the water filter......

How to increase the water flow from water dispencer on a FLSC238DSO when getting water it takes for ever to fill a glass

If your fridge has a water filter, you should change it every 3 months. An old filter can cause slow flow problems.

But it will never come out as fast as the kitchen sink. Depending on the location of your fridge, you have 10 to 25 feet of 1/4" pipe between your water glass and the high-flow plumbing, and water just won't move very fast through that.

I have a Maytag Plus side by side refrigerator, model # MSD2756GE*. It has the indoor ice/water dispenser. On the dispenser panel, there are a total of 6 buttons with LED indicators: Crush, Cube, Water,...

Normally you just need to hit the unlock button in for 10 seconds.

If this not works, here is what you need to do -

Note: If dispenser is active for more than five
minutes, an automatic lock out sensor will shut
down power to dispenser area.
Dispenser Lock/Unlock
The Dispenser Lock and Unlock affects all keypad functions.
To Lock Dispenser:
  • Press and hold the Lock/Unlock button for three
seconds. A green indicator light above the button will
illuminate when the dispenser is locked.
To Unlock Dispenser:
  • Hold the Lock/Unlock button for three seconds. The
green indicator light above will go out

Otherwise your refrigerator has a preset shut down program that protects the dispenser from flooding your kitchen. The control will shut down and will NOT reset when unplugged. The control needs to be reprogrammed. This mode was triggered by drawing out water for too long of a period of time. Call a Maytag service dealer.

Water flow decrease on refrigerator dispenser

You might have calcium deposits in the supply line. You can unscrew the line from the fridge and turn on the water to see if you have good flow. Have a bucket or pan handy. Let it run for a minute. If it checks out ok then the problem might be in the line attached to the fridge. Those usually come off fairly easy. If so take that off and see if its clogged. You can also check the valve where the feed is connected to the main water.

Low flow from water dispenser

hi, this can be because of the filter. when the water is flowing threw the filter, it is sent threw many channels inside the filter before it reaches the dispenser. this slows it down a bit. this is quite normal but, if it's slowed down to a dribble, i suspect a water valve malfunction or you may need to change the filter.

Water takes a while to start

put a 8oz glass upto the dispenser and start filling when the water starts the glass should be half full in 6 seconds if not the water pressure is to low if so you have a small leak some where in your tubing these are press and pull fittings usually and are located by following the line from under the door up under the ref.and back to the water inlet valve on the left rear of the machine hope this helps and good luck. oh if you have the type water valve that is up on the water line to your home make sure it is not on a plastic pipe because plastic piping will make a flap and restrict your flow
