Question about Philips Magnavox 27MS343S 27" TV

Getting rid of subtitles...for dummies

Hi there - can someone help please??!!

We've got an old ALBA TV, with a Matsui set top box (just installed - although it's secondhand), VCR, DVD, all linked with a scart socket box and using a One For All combined remote. I have the original remotes for the DVD (Philips) and VCR (Panasonic) only. I don't have the remotes or guides for the TV and the Matsui set top box.

The TV/Set top has got subtitles on all the time, which is driving me mad!! I looked at some of the previous solutions, but I don't have a PIP button anywhere, don't know where to find 'Info' on the One For All remote, when I go into the menu screen it just gives me brightness, contrast etc., the language option on the menu does not include text language.

If anyone can help, I would be really grateful!!

Many thanks

Angelic

Actually, just found out that it works (sort of) by clicking thr set-up button in the remote for the DVD player. Not sure how and why, but it seems to have sorted the problem

I have an Magnavox vcr/dvd recorder combo, that used to let me record the higher channels.it won' t do it now sense,I just updated my old box tv to a flat screen, and now I can't record. It say error 26

This message most often occurs when the TV signal has copy-protection on it. Please add a comment with the details of your TV signal (set-top box and provider or OTA antenna).

If you are now using an HDMI cable between a set-top box and the new TV, then you may need to unplug the HDMI cable to avoid the copy-protection information blocking the DVD/VCR recording functions.

I hope this helps.

Subtitles always on

We believe you have the Closed Caption decoder in your TV enabled. Please turn off the CC feature in the TV.

Can't tune Alba 7395 VCR into a Goodmans GDB12XIT Freeview box

Has the box got a scart socket? If it has connect the VCR to that via a scart lead. If the alba has two scart sockets then use the second one. When recording set the channel as AV1 or AV2.
If you don't have enough scart sockets to connect your TV, VCR and Box, then get one of these Scart Switching Box from places such as Amazon or Argos.

How do I turn my Vizio E470VL CC off?

CC is either coming from the box or the set--if grayed out on set means that option is closed---you have to look for it in the set and the BOX menu--have you tried removing box from use?

There should be a button on the remote control to turn on and off the subtitles. On three of my Samsung products the subtitle button is marked as "subtitle"

I have an Alba 32880hdf freeview tv. I cannot record freeview programmes to my panasonic NV-FJ 780 vcr which has 2 scart sockets. I have no problem recording the teresteral channels. Can you help pls

Hi Victor,

You can't record the Freeview channels from the TV. It doesn't work that way. The reason you can still record terrestrial channels is because the VCR is still connected to your roof aerial with a co-axial cable and the VCR has its own built-in analogue tuner for recording terrestrial TV programmes.

To record the digital Freeview channels, you will either need to connect a separate Freeview set-top box to the VCR, or buy a VCR which has a built-in digital (DVB-T) tuner.

The VCR does not record programmes from the TV. It needs to be connected directly to the signal source, i.e. your aerial.

If you need any further assistance, please let me know.

BElectric

TRYING TO INSTALL DIGITAL SET-TOP BOX WITH DVD AND TV

Hi ccraigo
To answer your question;
Your motorola will connect directly(not through the dvd) to the tv set into one of the input ,(preferably using hdmi or component cables for hd) and the dvd will use a different input,
All you have to do then is switch between which one you want to watch.
Hope this help Cheers
