Question about Nintendo DS Lite Console
Buy spares on ebay(you will need a tri wing screwdriver) If you are unsure I can repair.

If it is just the pllastic "A" button you can buy a set of replacement buttons on eBay for a couple of euros with a trihead screwdriver and simply search youtube for a tutourial video on how to remove the screws etc.
If the "A" button is still in one piece and in the Ds unit you have danaged the underlying button pad which is embeded in the motherboard and can be exspensive to sort out. If this is the case you would be better trading it in against a new system.

sounds like you both have a lose connection on the circuit board, so easily done, even if one cable is slightly misaligned the ds will not turn on, do they charge o.k?? if so it is a faulty connection

i had the same problem, the light would come on and for a split second you'd see a blue screen on the bottom and then it poweres down again. its because the thin ribbion cable is not plugged in all the way. On the white connector where the ribbon plugs in , there is a little black door that clamps down on the cable keeping it inplace. make sure youve clamped it down or it will fall out. I thought i had it plugged in well there too ,but when i powered it up i had your problem so i opened it up and found that the ribbon wasnt in all the way, and then it would power up, but my touch screen was unreponsive. i think i chiped something on the mother board. hope that helps

Top LCD's flex cable that passes through right-hand hinge into bottom part of case will be damaged or not properly seated in its connector socket.

Take a q tip and wet the end. then you rub the crack between the button and the actual ds the dry it off and blow on it really hard three times
