T may be something very simple like a bad door switch or even a broken door switch actuator, in a kenmore dryer there is a tab thats sticks out of a hole in the wall that allows the dryer to run only if the door is shut, other models may have button that protrudes out of the dryer and when the door is shut, this allows the dryer to run. These switches go out from time to time, also if a dryer is full of lint build-up over time this will cause the dryer high limit or fuse to blow. The fuse is located near where the blower is in most cases. When the air in the dryer gets way too hot the fuse/hi-limit will blow and the house wont burn down.

Intermittent heat problems with GE dryer. Drum light associated with problem. Light goes out with door open when centrifugal switch disengages. No heat when this occurs.

this problem is related to the thermal hi-limit cutout and its sister thermal fuse. The two can be bought as a repair kit from repairclinic.com or any appliance repair dealer. Enter your model number and the kit will come up high on the hit list of commonly ordered parts.

25361439-xipalmoknr3fbjmp51kycajc-3-0.jpg These two are in series with each other, and can be jumped out temporarily to verify operation. The silver one will look very much like the picture, the black and white one may be round instead of rectangular (depending on model). They should be swapped as a set. You can ohm them out just like regular fuses to check them.

Dryer continues to run when I open the dryer door.

The door lock is more than just a latch; it is an electrical interlock. From your description it is likely that the interlock has failed

You have a faulty door switch. Here is the replacement switch.
There is a video on that same parts page to show you how to replace it.

Admiral dryer super capacity dryer won't heat up and light doesn't stay on. It happened when we first brought it home years ago and the repair may said to reset some button but I don't kn

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? If you plug something else into the outlet, does it work? If not, check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker.

Door Switch

If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. Check for continuity you should have none with door open, and should have a reading when closed. If not replace the door switch.

Thermal Fuse / Thermal Cut out

On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse (a heat-sensitive fuse that blows if the dryer overheats) mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel or behind the front panel. The fuse is about an inch long. It's usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing or is sometimes round and made of metal and plastic.

If the fuse has blown, it has no continuity. When this happens, your dryer either just stops heating, or it doesn't work at all. Be sure to inspect the venting/heating system before replacing the fuse this is the most common reason for blowing the fuse. (You can't re-set this type of fuse.)

Wiring

Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks. In this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the wire is attached.

Will only work with light amount of clothes in dryer, if medium amount just hums and will not start

With the door open hold in the door switch in and turn the drum while someone hits the start switch, if the dryer starts when you do this you may have a bad motor, what this is doing is "jump starting" your motor winding's. If it doesn't start by doing that then you may have a problem in your belt/idler pulley system.

Makes a humming noise but doesn't turn

Try this, open the dryer door and hold down the door light switch. Turn on the dryer and press start. When you hear the motor humming, turn the drum clockwise with your hand to see if it will turn. If itruns, you have a bad motor and will need to be replaced. If it doesn't turn, something is jammedinside and you will need to disassemble the unit to find the jam.
Hope this helps.

Sears craftsman 1/2 hp. Door goes up with remote, but when button pushed to go down the light flashes and door doesn't move. If you push the wall mounted switch, the door goes down like normal. Works...

Check the sensors in the doorway. They should both have a small light that is lit and not flickering. Tweak them a little. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have bad sensors.

Dryer wont start

Push on the door switch and make sure the light goes out. When the light goes out, a contact should be made to allow the motor to run. If you can get to the timer, spray a good electronic contact cleaner inside while rotating the dial. While you have the unit open, vacuum out all the lint, and check for loose wires, especially to the door switch.
