Question about Epson CX8400 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Ok I have a cx8400 all-in-one Epson printer. I was out of black ink so I started using composite black. Also ran out of color ink so I bought the black cartridge and installed it. Now the printer says i have to replace the color cartridges and even when I changed the settings to black and white only in the printer and the computer it doesn't want to work and when it does it only print blank pages. I already checked the black cartridge to ensure it wasn't clogged and I know the printer recognizes it cause when the "replace cartridge alert" appears it shows the black ink cartridge full. I don't want to buy the color cartridges, they are to expensive and I don't need them!

    THANKS FOR THE ADVICE BUT THAT SUCKS, I'LL BETTER BUY A NEW PRINTER. THE INK CARTRIDGES FOR THIS ONE ARE TOO EXPENSIVE AND CAN'T BE REFILLED. IT'S JUST NOT COST EFICIENT FOR ME. THANK YOU.

If a cartridge is expended, you must replace it to be able to print. If a cartridge is low, you can continue printing until a cartridge needs replacement. You cannot print or copy when an ink cartridge is expended even if the other cartridges are not expendedI have come across this issue many times and unforunately you have to replace the colour carts in order to continue to use the printer.

i have this link below that gives you allinformation about your Epson printer. specifically the manual , required for review to address the issue with the ink cartridge error.

Have an apple computer - epson cx8400 printer epson black 69 ink ran out my husband removed this cartridge before we had the new one to put in now printer continues to show press ok button to replace...


First try this, remove all the cartridges, turn off the printer, unplug all the cables including the power cord, leave it for few minutes, clean whatever you think you can. Tap the power button several times. Reconnect and reinstall everything. Now try switching it on again. It should work fine. There's more to do if this doesn't fix. Let me know if the problem persists.

My printer wont print black and white only


My Epson Stylus cx8400 uses ink so fast. I would like to turn this into a black and white printer only. The problem is, I am out of one of the color ink cartridges and it won't let me proceed until I replace it. Is there a way, in the mode it's in now, to get this to print with the black and white only? I am nearly out of ink on all color cartridges now and do not want to purchase more at the high cost they are.

Why won't my CX9400F recognize Epson ink cartridges


The Epson CX9400F printer seems to require replacement of all the color ink cartridges, even if only the Black is empty.

I print almost exclusively in Black, but with my first change of Black, I was forced to change all the color. At the time I thought Epson did not provide completely filled color ink cartridges.

Just yesterday, I replaced Black and the printer complained it did not recognize the rest of color cartridges. So I replaced all the other color ink cartridges and now it works fine.

You might want to check out www.clickinks.com for cheaper, mail order alternatives which are Epson ink compatible, if you are not in a hurry.

Printer cx8400 All in one inkjet does not print well (ink is new)


have you tried to using the head cleaning? It will clean the nozzles inside your printer. you can check your manual how to do it.

Ink cartridge replacement


I had the same problem, and after scouring around online for a few days, I learned that this is one of the biggest gripes about this printer. Basically, you're out of luck unless you replace EVERYTHING, even though you only want to print black (nuts, isn't it?). So I went out and bought all new color cartridges, and it STILL won't print. I think it's just a bad printer all around. :(
