Assuming that the power cord is OK - can you measure the power is OK? If so and the unit will not turn on you will need to get it to a repair shop or engineer to take a look at it.

When I turn on my computer monitor it goes to sleep within a few seconds. What can I do?

For desktop computers: check that the computer is on. Make sure that the monitor is connected to the correct port on your computer. Some desktops have graphics ports on the motherboard and a separate video card. In that case, the motherboard port(s) will be disabled.

Try a different cable and make sure that both ends are secured properly. (If there are multiple input options on the computer and the monitor, try a different port. Sometimes, a port fails. There are adapters available for DVI to VGA or DVI to HDMI if you don't have extra inputs on the monitor.)

Try a new video card and check that your Power Supply is rated to power the entire system. (Some video cards will not work at all if the power supply does not provide enough power to the card. Some power supplies have multiple rails and can't give enough power even though the overall power is sufficient.) Unfortunately, if you have been using a video card, connecting the

If you are connecting the monitor to a laptop, make sure that the external video port is enabled. Some machines will have the port disabled to save power.

If this was the first time using the monitor, make sure that the computer was off when you connected the cable. Then turn on the monitor and select the appropriate input (if needed) before turning on the computer.

I hope this helps.

MFC_5840CN Will not print, not showing

Typically, a Brother machine stops printing, because the connection between the computer and the Brother machine is lost. There are multiple reasons for a lost connection.
  1. The Brother print driver is Offline.

  2. The Brother printer driver is not set as the default printer driver.

  3. The computer, not the monitor, connected to the Brother machine is set to go into sleep or standby mode. When the computer goes into sleep or standby mode, the connection between the computer and the Brother machine is lost and needs to be re-established.
Follow the steps below in order to re-establish the connection between the Brother machine and the computer:
  1. Verify that the Brother machine is connected with a USB cable and is not on a network.

  2. Verify the power cord and USB cable are securely connected. If the USB cable is loose on either end, disconnect and reconnect the cable securely. Test the machine by trying to print. If the machine does not print, go to STEP3.

  3. Cycle the power of the Brother machine by unplugging the power cord from power outlet, wait approximately one minute and plug back in. Once the Brother machine displays the date and time after plugging it back in, test the machine by trying to print. If the machine does not print, to Step 4.

  4. Reboot the computer connect to the Brother machine and then try to print again.

My computer starts up but the screen sa ys no signal

WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL.

http://www.kitchentablecomputers.com/static.php - rules

Only work inside the computer case when the power has been switched off and disconnected. Never open the power source.

Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive IDE,SATA

the leads from your (motherboard to your hard drive) make sure they have secure dust free connections and are not faulty

If its a 40 pin flat ribbon type it will be the first to fail.

Even something as small as a faulty electrical fan and its lead can cause you problems

computers need all power and data to continue through every working device and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error.

Make sure your graphics card is securely seated with no dust built up or in the socket

if you remove your graphics check the socket to make sure its dust free.

Restart your computer then reinstall it this should activate found new hardware wizard

Check the VGA cable connection running from the computer to the monitor.

This cable must be completely inserted into both VGA connection ports, otherwise the video signal is not going to reach the display.

Disconnect the VGA cable from the computer and monitor, then look at the metal connectors on both ends.

If you are missing connection pins, the video signal is not going to transfer between hardware correctly.

To fix this problem, you must obtain a new VGA cable (at any computer or electronics store) to send the video signal.

Examine the power connection on the monitor.

If the monitor is not receiving power, it is not going to turn on.

Turn off the monitor for a few minutes, then power it back on.

Like other computer hardware, the monitor may not initially turn on correctly.

Move the mouse and press the "Enter" key on the computer keyboard.

If the computer is in sleep mode, the monitor is going to appear as if it does not have any display.

Hope this helps.

Dell xp computer power went out in the computer

First, check that the power supply is on and that it is plugged in. Next are any lights visible or sounds heard when you try to turn it on?

Many Dell machines have an LED that is yellow if power if reaching the motherboard. (This light turns green when the machine turns on.) Similarly, if you hear a fan, the power supply is probably getting some power.

If you have no lights or fans turning, your power supply (PSU) is not converting the AC power to the correct DC voltage. (It could have failed totally, isn't plugged in tightly, or a different problem.) If the connectors aren't completely seated, try re-seating them. There will be at least two connections from the PSU to the motherboard. (One is the 20 or 24 pin main power connection. The other is the CPU power (probably a 4 pin (2x2)) connector. If that doesn't help, you need a replacement Dell power supply that will fit your case and match the motherboard pins (20 or 24 pins). Dell machines often use a proprietary pin configuration so you probably need a Dell power supply.

If the lights and fans are coming on, then the power supply may be the problem or the motherboard is bad. Additional testing and/or physical inspection of the components will be needed which part has failed.

If your computer gets to the point of seeing blinking line on the monitor, then you have a problem with your boot drive. The computer doesn't see an OS or the Master Boot Record. These errors can be fixed with either the Windows install or update disc for your version of Windows (Home, HP, Pro and the correct SP) or a third-party disc partitioning tool. You can change the boot order by pressing F12 repeatedly after pressing the power button. (This step may need to be repeated if you miss the timing.) With the Windows XP, you need to enter the Recovery Console after the install disc loads (press R). Enter your administrator password if it is needed. (Usually it isn't needed for most users, just press enter.) Then at the prompt type "fixmbr" without the quotes followed by enter. Entering the command "fixboot" at another prompt will repair the boot sector.

If the hard drive isn't visible in the BIOS or can't be found for the recovery procedure, you may have a bad hard drive. You'll need to replace the drive and reinstall the OS. (If you have a recent system image, use that.)

Please add a comment with more details on the computer's status and I'll try to provide more assistance.
